Heh sounds like a strange title

But this is the conversation I had with my friend.

www.uoforums.com...

Thought it'd be easier to put it into a text file, rather than pasting it all on here.

Wow, that's a really compelling story. The neice's relationship with "Wendy" is very spooky.

Depending on the size of your city, you might be able to search local newspapers online or at the library to find if any Wendys were killed in car wrecks in the area. If it's rented property, the landlord can be approached discretely and prodded about the rental history.

If your friend is so inclined, ghost investigators do what they do for free 99.9% of the time (avoid the other .1%!)

Please keep us updated.

Checking out local papers seems like the right track.

And that part about andy seeing the girl in the doorway gave me serious chills! cool read.

I am afraid that, from the conversation you posted, it sounds as though your friend was either putting you on or had just read some basic information regarding hauntings and wished to give yo a fright or display his newfound info in a manner that would also make a cool story. The story he relates just seems to have too much of a narrative feel to it.

First there is a tapping at the door and items are thrown about in the basement and your friend makes a point of saying:

tapping on doors and stuff being displaced are 2 signs that your house could be haunted

Then there is a scratching noise and again he states that:

odd sounds coming from unidentifiable places are another sign of a haunting

Then the furniture is moved about in the dark and, yet again, your friend makes the point of stating that:

furniture being moved about inexplicably is a sign of a haunting

It just seems as though your friend is familiar with some iconic haunting/ghost incidents (along with those already mentioned, the presence of a small child who can see the ghosts, the frightening ghost of a young girl and a sense of being watched) and is using them to construct a story to frighten or impress you.

However, I may be completely wrong. The apartment may indeed be genuinely haunted. I am not calling your friend a liar, but it always helps to examine mundane explanations before looking into more supernatural causes for these things. Here are my suggestions for determining exactly what is going on:

- see if your friend can ask his niece to draw a picture of "Wendy" that you can post for us to look at.
- see if you can find out what hospital "Wendy" is recieving treatment in. This would go some way towards confirming at least this aspect of the story.
- ask your friend to set up a video camera either in his basement or in the game room, or any place where he feels as though he is being watched or where strange occurrences have taken place. If the incidents are happening as regularly as he seems to indicate, he should have a fairly good chance of capturing something on film.
- similarly, ask him to try and record any unusual sounds that he hears in the apartment.
- ask your friend to keep a detailed record of any further events that take place there. Make sure he records the time, date, exactly what happened, who was there and any facts he feels are pertinent.

I do believe in the phenomenon of haunted houses, but I am naturally skeptical where tangible evidence of some form is lacking. Please understand that I am in no way attacking your story. But if your friend has been looking into these phenomena on the internet, he may genuinely wish to discover what is happening and will agree to the suggestions outlined above.

Let us know how it goes. I am extremely interested to see what becomes of this.

Trust me when I say, he isn't the kinda person to string me along

I remember him telling me about the break in thing a few weeks back, but he just put it down to one of those things

I don't think he believed in ghosts before, but now he does.

His girlfriend is a quiet girl and she's told me what's happened and she is scared.

I to am sceptical, but I trust this guy with my life, he isn't that kinda person to make up such a story

I suggested he to make recordings and he's going to do just that, he's got a video camera he's going to setup overnight filming the gameroom

Good stuff.

Please don't feel as though I were directly attacking you or your friend. As a skeptic, I am sure you can appreciate that factors such as outright deception need to be ruled out before any serious research can be undertaken.

Keep us updated on what happens. As I said, I am quite interested to see what becomes of this little story.

Oh I am to, trust me

There's been a few occasions in which they've entered a room and felt like they were being watched, like when you get the shivvers and whatnot

I told them to keep a camera nearby and snap a few shots when that happens, just incase.

But yea, I was sceptical when he first mentioned it, but after he realed off each instance, it just sounded weird.

I hope he gets something on camera.

Interesting post.

I would hope your friend has no reason to be alarmed. Apparently these elementals have done no wicked deeds as they have yet to attack or create such havoc as might bring harm to and from one's self.

I am biased however, as I have three 'good spirits' who do things; open the bedroom door in the night or turn on a ceiling fan, and even bump the bottom of the bed, albeit they have yet to rearrange things.

I have learned to relax an enjoy their musings. Having elementals is not a problem unless one remains in fear of them.

I hope your friend finds his answers.

They both find it creepy because it's their first "Encounter", if you will

I firmly believe that they are experiencing something, as to wether or not it's a ghost, that's anyone's guess.

I asked his girlfriend who I also speak to wether she's ever woken up with marks, i.e bites or scratches, and she said no

It hasn't outright attacked them or done anything hostile from what I can tell

But the whole thing with the niece saying she speaks to a girl named Wendy, is just creepy to me, heh

A good idea would be for someone to try to talk to the little girl (ghost) tell her she must leave, say a prayer for her out loud ask her if she can see a light and to follow the light to where she is suppose to be. May be more complacated than that, but worth a try. brushoff

I certainly think that it's time for that little old lady to move on. If she is only an occasional visitor than she shoud not be much of a problem. But if she's a permenant resident say prayers for her to go to the light.

Do either of y'all know how to capture EVP? I'd be fascinated to hear what you could come up with.

I have a vague idea, tune a radio into a non existent station, then record it?

And/or set a tv onto an untuned station and record that to....?

People argue about whether you need external white noise or not. Basically, it can be done by just leaving a tape recorder running for some time, then playing it back later with headphones, or searching with sound editing software.
