I am a screenwriter in Hollywood Ca. researching my next film. I recently began work on a story centered around a regiment of men assembled by the British army that were used primarily in North Africa. These men were either dicipline cases or mentally handicapped. Story goes that they were trained ot be killing machines and became just that. To the extent that by the end of the war, they killed anything that that crossed their path including their allies. I heard these original stories from a group of WW2 veterans while on a trip to London. Unfortunately most have passed away and I am looking for fresh material. One of the more interesting stories was that all their equipment was painted bright colors to alert their own allies to divert.

Sadly I think this goes to show people, that durring a war all kinds of ethically questionable units can be put together without anyone knowing. Even in the archives of history they seem to vanish.

I stumbled upon this thread (after you posted in it), but it makes me wonder about how many of these "Special Units" the British put together and forgot about.

Thats true, if they were doing this back then just imagine the squads they have put together now.

What if they took 15 serial killers and put advanced weapons in their hands. Then turned them loose in a enemy country. Quite a thought and would probably make a good movie script.

They already do. It's called the US Military.

Zing. Actually, i'm being facetious, figured i'd bite before someone else undoubtedly makes that post in seriousness.

I think the topic at hand is interesting, but i'm not entirely sure if this is the appropriate forum to be looking for information of this nature.

I'm sure there are certain military factions over the years who have forced or hired, shall we say, off kilter mercenary types to create a "chaos" effect in certain regions.

Yeah this is just a thread a stumbled across earlier today. Someone should make a thread around this topic and put it in the right forum. Could get interesting. I'm not really a thread starter but someone should do it.
