FEMA accused of flying evacuees to wrong Charleston

A South Carolina health official said his colleagues scrambled Tuesday when FEMA gave only a half-hour notice to prepare for the arrival of a plane carrying as many as 180 evacuees to Charleston.

But the plane, instead, landed in Charleston, West Virginia, 400 miles away.

It was not known whether arrangements have been made to care for the evacuees or transport them to the correct destination.

A call seeking comment from FEMA was not immediately returned.

I read this earlier. Can you believe it? So not only is their sense of time distorted but their sense of place is nill as well!

I was watching CNN just about a half an hour ago and heard this. This is sad. I can understand some confusion, but this just about tops it.

Dunno?, I feel people should have had the chance to leave NO who are sick, poor or elderely free of charge before the storm hit?

Were these people forgot by the powers to be. Why did Buses and taxis and anykind of transportation fail to be made available to the less fortunate? Or am I wrong and transport was available?
