Catch 22 / Carefull What You Ask For

First, let me say I'm sure a lot of things could have went better in repsects to the response to Katrina.

Having said that, and heard and read a lot about the Administration and the White Houses poor response:

It is the checks and balances that seem to have hindered what should have been done from the get go.

But ....

All the Federal government can do is create new, or change existing legislation to fit the needs of future events.

And, are we sure we want to empower the federal government to react without the chain of command of Local and State government officials?

Because, by blaiming the White House, you are choosing to make them responsible when perhaps, they were not accountable for this dissaster according to current legislation.

By making their case for them, you may be supporting martial law without a major or a governor having any say so in the whole of it.

Carefull what you ask for, that is all I'm saying. You may just get what you want.

Empowering Big Brother out of FEAR and HATE.

In that film it's terror.

The troops move in but don't want to move back out. And the evil General Willis is allowed any act in the name of "restoring law and order.


and I do mean evil, btw.

I saw the movie. Hollywood doesn't really capture the thought I was trying to convey.

I'm talking about re-writing government protocols to more empower the federal government to supercede the local and state government when natural dissasters such like Katrina effect the U.S..


Are the people who are blaming the federal government aware it would require changes in existing legislation/law/protocols to give the federal government the right to act differently?

Of course not. They have only one mode, and that is a shrill whine about how their needs are not being met. The idea that they could damage our democracy by altering it to react to the most recent problem is totally lost on them.

Not that Americans are any worse than any other people. It's just that the sheep don't think much about their choices before demanding change. IMO, the MSM accentuates this tendency, however.
