[ After tackling American Green Berets, Indian special forces will now take on Russian para-commandos. No, they are not going to fight. Instead, they
will practice together to boost "inter-operability" to ensure "smooth" joint operations if required in the future.
India and Russia have planned large-scale combat manoeuvres, with special emphasis on counter-terrorism, in the Thar Desert in mid-October. A
battalion each from Indian and Russian armies will practice special operations, backed by aircraft and helicopters.
This comes shortly after the 15-day Exercise Vajra Prahar, where Indian and American special forces practised heliborne and long-range surveillance
operations, as well as combat survival and tactical manoeuvres, in Jodhpur region earlier this month. "We train most of the armies in the world, but
it's here we get equally trained," said a US soldier. TNN]
I think this is a great move and india have to participate in joint excercises quite often so as to keep up its pace and its newfound
world recogintion as one of the best armies in the world...
Guys i welcome your views in this matter...
