Here's an update on this ongoing story:

CORPUS CHRISTI - A juvenile court judge Friday ordered treatment and state oversight for a 13-year-old cancer patient to continue after her parents were unable to produce specialists' opinions in time for the hearing.

"I'm not going to wait for anything else for you all to do, not one thing more," Judge Carl Lewis told lawyers for Ed and Michele Wernecke, who say they fear high-dose chemotherapy will do more harm than good to their daughter, Katie.

At a hearing Tuesday, the lawyers said the family would stop fighting the treatment if doctors specializing in Hodgkin's disease agreed it was the best option. The lawyers said they hoped to produce those opinions by Friday.

But with lawyers saying they needed more time for the opinions Friday and a social worker saying Katie had only a 25 percent chance of surviving without treatment, Lewis said things had to move on.

The girl is still in CPS custody and is actually refusing treatment. She is pulling out cathethers and refusing to let her pulse be taken. Here's the full story:

Are talkin' about two different things?

Experimental treatment always means you can opt out, whether in the UK or US.

Are you part of a clinical trial (using an experimental drug, for example), or has your treatment alreadly been approved/established etc?

Just for clarification
