The Barton Mansion Entity

It's been quite some time since I've posted on ATS, but anyways...

I did a search and couldn't find anything, but if this has been posted before, then by all means, remove this thread.

Has anyone heard or seen the Barton Mansion video? It's pretty short, and even if it's a hoax, it freaked me out. Here's a link to the video,
The Barton Entity

You can read about the mansion and the story about the guys that recorded the video. The "entity" could be some squatter living in the mansion scaring anybody who wonders in, but whatever it was, was pretty tall.

Tell me what you think about the video.

Could easily be a hoax but nevertheless it's still a pretty freaky video. Quite interesting the back story to it too, lets hope the current owners allow it to be investigated further. I wonder if they are going to live in it, I certainly wouldn't.

There's a story about how they came to film what they did on their site, click on the link that says, "Our Story". There's also a link for the history of the mansion.

If it's a matter of what was in the video, listen to what they're saying while looking at the circular object at the bottom of the door way. Right after one of them says, "Right there," you can here something move and they look to the right and there's this "entity" emerging from the closet.

Looks like someone with flowy robes covered in a hood. Quite tall, taking up the entire door way from floor to top...seems to be advancing towards them. Really like the part when they freaked out and rushed down the stairs.

seems quite improbable, and I'm not entirely sure why an apparition would be carrying a lantern. Still freaky stuff, especially when you read the back story and some of the other pictures on the site. I have to be skeptical when you get to a site with that kind of creepy background music.

Very Blair Witch-esque. Real or not I don't know. I have to agree with RedeemingSpirit who questioned why the entity would be carrying a lantern. Seems a little more like a character you'd see in a Scooby-Doo cartoon and less like a genuine demonic entity.

From the things I've read which I consider to be real accounts of demonic phenomenon, the demonic can manifest itself in numerous ways. Most of the time it's just manifests as a black figure of some sort usually accompanying a severe drop in temperature and feelings of dread and fear.

The fact that they happened to be nosing around in the other direction and then SUDDENLY swing the camera over for a second before running away seems to shout HOAX. Oh, and the "Get my back!" comment at the beginning - before knowing about this entity, why would he feel he needed his back covered?

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. If it's not staged, the best explanation is that they startled someone who was there for some other occult purpose, and he came out to see who it was.

Personally, I'm more interested in the pictures allegedly from 1977 - www.bartonmansion.com...

Is the guy in the flaming circle just a bad cut-n-paste job? Why does the cloud of smoke terminate in a sharp horizontal line???

I'm sure it'd be appreciated if someone could cut a couple frames of the figure from the video and post here, because I can't see anything as they run for their lives.
Nevermind, my quicktime plugin was acting up and froze the vid before so I couldn't play and pause, but now I saw it and I have to say I think it's a hoax.
Some clear figure in a big robe with a lantern does seem like something out of Scooby-Doo, or maybe like what was mentioned, some occult member went to see what was happening.

It also seemed weird that they avoided going near that door over where the figure appeared.
They stopped to look at the one thing on the floor instead of going around the room and doing some searching.

Hoax, or someone coming out to see what was going on. His story doesn;t tally with the video, he said his bro split as soon as he heard it, but he stood there long enough to be able to see its face, which you can;t in the video. Unless he was looking at it before he turned the camera, but i kinda doubt that...

To me it looks as if someone was playing a nice trick on these guys. When I look at the still frames of the video I get the feeling that the 'demon' exist out of 2 people. You can see a kind of lump in the middle of the 'demon'. And the demon's horn seems like something made out of plastic. It's doesn't seem to blend in with the rest of the face.
Besides I've read about people being scared by an aparition of a demon, or people feeling terrified and watched. But this is the first time I read about someone being CHASED by a demon. But it could be possible ofcourse...
It's possible that this mansion is haunted, but the vid seems like a hoax to me.

They may have felt a presence and got scared? It was late at night and the oldest house in the town, I'd be scared too if I was them.
They swang the camera around because they heard the noise or maybe saw the light in the corner of their eyes.

It's too large to be 1 normal person, and it doesn't walk properly; it drifts. It's head doesn't bob down when it walks, it stays straight.

That could also mean it's in fact a statue or something, the entity is indeed not moving very much, and it could be a statue (a friend of mine pointed this out).

It could be a hoax, it could be real...

I looked at all of the vid and pics with detail. Nventual, could you tell me where you saw enuff vid footage to know whether the entity was floating or walking please? i cant seem to find that clip of which you speak. From what i can see, it would be hard to have discerned that from what I saw. In fact if you look at the stills, you can see either a bent knee angle or its left arm swinging out as he/it bent down to step thru the doorway. It does have the blair witch feel to it tho. Very interesting none the less. Will wait to see what develops.

ok well i went to the barton mansion lastnight at 3am.. it is definatly haunted.... we took pictures and in the pictures we saw orbs and 2 figures on the grounds... it was creepy... the white figure looks like it is holding a lantern and then there was a black figure chillin by the front entrance... yea and its a hoax???
