Hypothetically speaking, how would one go about attracting a ghost to their house?

Use an Ouiji board. But I must warn to some people, that Ouiji boards can be dangerous and you must be very experienced or have an experienced person use it with you. Without experience, you could attract some negative entities.

I presonally don't believe it is possible, unless you evoke a spirt which is fairly complicated and can be extremely dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Spirit's that are attached to a home have a history there, either as an extremely happy memory after they have passed on, or more often some extremely negative event that happened to them; most often when they have died in that place before their time. As for spirits that aren't attached to the home they often are attracted to an individual that lives their, often say a dead relative looking over their family as a spirit guide.

I wouldn't suggest it, because most likely whatever you attract would not be a polite and helpful spirit, it would be one that would haunt and torment you. Especially if you use an ouiji board, you are more likely to attract something closer to "demonic" than "Casper the Friendly Ghost".

How do you know there isn't already a number of spirits there, and you just don't notice them? o_O. There tends to be a lot of "Come and Go" spirits from what I have heard. Maybe one will stop by and pay you a visit tonight =).

You probably can dim the lights in your house, draw the curtains and maybe use an Ouija board of some sort.

It's very risky using a Ouiji board. Bad, horrible things will happen to you, becuase you'll have bad spirits following you. And if you're with someone else, it's possible those spirit will follow that person also and cause bad things to happen to him/her. Just be careful.

To be real safe, its best to get a medium or some sort of religeous person with the power to protect you.

You simply ask, just as you would a person sitll living.
The energy of people passed on are still around. They are everywhere. Just because you don't see or hear anything strange, don't think for a moment that you don't have visiters.

I don't think asking is the best way to go about it, you might be looking for a spirit guide or any other positive entity, and who knows what might answer; especially don't taunt a spirit to make itself known, even the positive ones tend to not like that.

If you wanted to attract a male ghost the best way is to capture a really good looking female ghost and make it dress up in a really skimpy outfit and then keep it in a cage by an open window at night... and then just wait.

Brutally murdera family member in your home, simple you have a very peed off entity in your house, and youve got your ghost.

Never, ever try to attract a ghost. It's a very stupid idea. Like everyone else said, you'll probably attract a very pissed off/evil spirit. There are reports of people getting into extreme misfortune after they've summoned a spirit; some have even commited suicide. Ouiji boards are especialy bad. It will literally summon a ghost and believe me, you don't want to summon a gost that doesn't wish to visit you. It's like inviting a complete stranger to come and live at your house. Take my warning seriously and don't try to interact with a ghost in any way.

In the literal sense you really cannot 'attract' a Ghost. They are connected to their place of origin and have very limited mobility.

Of course I do not see Ghosts as others do, they are an impression left behind from some person who used to be alive. The energy of the emotions that surrounded their death someone retain a smattering of the energy of their thoughts. When this pool of energy interacts with a living human we end up with Ghost.

And although I know that tools such as the OuiJa must be used properly, there is no need for such a worry about 'evil spirits'. We are alive today folks, and no spirit that ever existed is as powerful as that. A strong focused mind is more than enough to protect anyone from anything. If you believe you have the power to make contact then you must also believe you have the power to banish.

Arm yourself with some Knowledge, a few Friends, and you should feel very safe in exploring anything.

A spirit can do more than you think. I was once told a true story. It went something like this: A woman was renting her house (I think it's called a "bed and breakfast"). Some people rented and decided to use a Ouiji board while they were there. They were succesful in summuning a ghost but guess who was left to take care of it? Apparently all hell broke loose in that woman's house and she eventualy jumped out the window and killed herself. A spirit could do but one thing and that is frighten. Sometimes they scare people so much that they go insane. The best way to use a Ouiji board is to not use it at all. They also have the power to posses but that could eaily be prevented. Some things are not meant for humanity to know or do. I feel that contacting ghosts is one of them. I am only 13 years old, but I try to gain as much knowledge as possible. And yes Alexander, a strong focused mind is more than enough to protect against things like this.
But even so, it's never wise to make unnecesary gambles.

Garyo, the first link perfectly explains my point.
That is all entirely true.
When someone dies, they are meant to go to the afterworld. If they get unwillingly summoned, I don't think they'll be happy. You just can't mess with things like that.

I was once told a true story. It went something like this...

I never suggest anyone delve into any aspect of the mysterious lightly. But rather than discussing what I have 'heard' I base my replies on what I know. From my personal experience, and that of people close to me, I know that the OuiJa, and similar tools, can be used in complete safety.

If a person is afraid of 'spirits' then they should not use such tools. But if you are not afraid, learn what you need to know before you start, and go exploring with a couple of friends, you will be fine. Only when the Board is treated like a toy do people get in trouble.

Interesting thing about fears that some need to consider. Sometimes we fear that which is dangerous and bad for us, in which case we should avoid those things. But sometimes we fear that which we must do, that which is necessary for our personal growth, those fears we must confront. The question that goes along with any fear should always be: Which kind of Fear am I feeling?

AT you make valid points there.

I am familiar with OuiJa but haven't used/owned one in many, many years possibly due to the hype of how dangerous/evil they can be.

Out of curiosity I wonder if the spirits are just angered by someone disrespecting the board or their domain?

I don't believe Ouija boards work.
I also think it isn't possible to attract ghosts to your house.

Why would you want to anyway?

Houses are either haunted or not haunted. you can't choose IMO.

All Divination tools work, if used correctly. The Board has nothing to do with 'spirits' really that is just a Belief Framework that one can if they wish, it is not required.

Normally people need some sort of Belief Framework to explain why something works. If you believe in spirits and I say they are why the Board works then you have something you can now understand. The key really is Belief that something can work, without that you can do nothing.

OuiJa Boards, like all other Divination tools, require the user to believe that they can work. This is not really all that different from other tools, your skill at using them is directly related to your confidence with them.

We make the Boards work, we provide the power, simple as that. Any Belief Framework that works for you is ok, but some bring baggage that can lead to trouble. People who believe in spirits tend to believe in good and bad ones as well. Strangely they even believe that some spirits are more powerful than humans and therefore dangerous.
