'Vanity Fair' Rips Media 'Conspiracy' in Covering Up Role in Plame Scandal

Snip~~

NEW YORK In an article in the September issue of Vanity Fair (not yet online), Michael Wolff, in probing the Plame/CIA leak scandal, rips those in the news media -- principally Time magazine and The New York Times -- who knew that Karl Rove was one of the leakers but refused to expose what would have been “one of the biggest stories of the Bush years.” Not only that, “they helped cover it up.” You might say, he adds, they “became part of a conspiracy.”

If they had burned this unworthy source and exposed his “crime,” he adds, it would have been “of such consequences that it might, reasonably, have presaged the defeat of the president, might have even -- to be slightly melodramatic -- altered the course of the war in Iraq.” In doing so they showed they owed their greatest allegiance to the source, not their readers.

And their source was no Deep Throat, not someone with dirt on the government -- the source “was the government.”

im quite perplexed how such a big story isn't being covered as i thought it would be. this is far greater then when pres. bill clinton was caught lying about getting some sex

we have the govt. leaking a CIA operatives name who was criticizing the administration's actions and it's no were near as covered as the ex-president's sex life. yes i know there is a war going on which gets more attention but this is a great abuse of power inside the government that isn't being covered as it should be.

ed. to remove sexual slang

The mainstream media is owned by corporations some of them own companies making big money off of this war.

The best way to truly know what is going on is to look for alternative news sources, but it is very frustratiing to see that most of the public does not and do not havea clue as to what is going on. I always check ATSNN and this, on my satellite dish channel 9415 and direct channel 375, but if you don't get it on tv you can watch it online or read it, also INN news, I think theirs is www.innworldreport.net...

Democracy Now, is a 1 hour news show with award winning journalist Amy Goodman.

Ah,

Sure your right. If Michael Wolff says it's so..well then, it must be.

We all know that he has mind melded with GWB, of course. Vanity Fair would never lie or embelish to enhance sales.

What is there to lie about? People need to be held responsible and a serious investigation should be underway already. Anyone who aided the leak needs to be fired.
