The UK Home Office has decided to take a stand and ban Omar Bakri Mohamad from the UK. Omar is a muslim cleric that vocally supports Al Qaeda and has said that he will not tell on terrorists.

RADICAL PREACHER BANNED

Radical Muslim cleric Omar Bakri Mohammed has been banned from returning to Britain, the Home Office has said.

Bakri travelled to Lebanon over the weekend but had said he intended returning to Britain, where he has lived since 1985.

A few days ago, there was talk in the UK of charging people that support terrorism with treason. No news has emerged whether that is a viable option available to the UK government.

Today though, the UK govt has made a stand against people that propogate terrorism by banning Omar Bakri Mohamad from the UK. This is a step forward in excluding these people from the UK. In a way, it will end up 'shielding' the general public from terrorist propaganda.

Currently, Omar Bakri Mohamad is in the Lebanon. I would question the wisdom though of leaving him there. True, he is under arrest at the moment. Yet, if released, it would be easier for him to disappear in the middle east and provide support to terrorist cells there. At least if he were in the UK, the police would be able to track his whereabouts, restrict his movement, or even arrest him if needs be. I am sure an outspoken person like him would violate laws on hate propaganda at some stage. Just a thought.

He was never under arrest in Lebanon, the police held him for questioning. He has since been released.

Well subz, that's just the point right. Now that he's free, he can disappear in the middle east. He can corrupt more young minds into committing atrocities and killing people.

He should of been arrested in Britain and kept in Belmarsh. Now, as you said, he is free to do what ever he pleases in the Middle East. That is hardly serving Britain's interests.
