People are still debating the safety (and efficacy) of colloidal silver, etc.

On the one hand, there are stories such as Rosemary's story and this site with a more clinical view.

Then there are those who dispute the safety fears, and there are message boards which frequently link to (or are hosted by) distributors of the supplement itself.

Like this one

Another site

We do know that the substance itself has anti-bacterial properties. What we need are controlled studies to support the efficacy and address the safety issues.

Tinctures in general have been utilised for centuries with varying degrees of safety and/or efficacy; this is less about alchemy though than it is about how medicinal substances have been used through the ages

Because sadly, people are allowed to sell things if they include disclaimers along these lines:

"NONE OF THE STATEMENTS CONTAINED HEREIN AS ADVERTISEMENT OR TESTIMONIALS SHALL BE CONSTRUED AS CLAIMS OR REPRESENTATIONS THAT ANY UTOPIA SILVER OR COLLOIDAL GOLD PRODUCT IS OFFERED FOR THE DIAGNOSIS, CURE, MITIGATION, TREATMENT OR PREVENTION OF DISEASE. "

(that's taken directly from a seller's website, though the emphasis is mine)

Because the FDA doesn't have complete jurisdiction over most herbal supplements, they can't usually wade in and prevent something from being sold unless there are distinct and proven health risks.

And you're more'n welcome

Be a smart consumer: Research what you're about to ingest, triple-check your sources and be dubious about any claims that sound too good to be true.

Thanks again for your reply... I wanted to get into this study of Alchemy but it seems so difficult .have you did any studies on this yourself?
BTW are you a writer?

Well, I dont know much about this colloidial gold and stuff, but it does seem interesting.

As for alchemy, well most of the scientific world considers alchemy to be fake, and imposible, it is though the forefather of modern chemistry.

I myself believe its possible, I don't claim to be an expert on it, but I do study various things that could make it possible.

Maybe about the Gold silver part of it ( their Elixars) but their Symbology is incredible...Alchemy picture
This picture has always caught my Interest. I feel these people were very smart and they knew more then what we give them credit for. you should see all the other pics... on their site. so when it came to medical, then I felt that they truely knew what they were talking about. I feel alot of this came out of Egypt. because you have to remember now, they were the ones that were more advanced in medical then any other. dont you think, since this is where we get our medical symbol todAY.?

I'm not sure about alchemy.

The definition varies to such a degree that it's hard to pin down exactly who meant what (throughout history) when (whoever) referring to it!

What are your preferred definitions? (for the sake of this thread)

I am not sure how to take all this about Alchemy. Thats why I thought maybe someone could help as far as leading in a direction of what this exactly means. Then when I seen this about the Silver/Gold, and how you can use this for better health, whatever, I was thinking maybe someone had maybe tryed this and what kinda results they had from it. I was seriously considering trying it, but after looking at your post and the sites that you lead me into I thought" No way"
I am lacking, as far as where this all started, ( maybe Egypt) since they were far advanced in medical, like we are today.
Also the Symbology that are on their sites. Pictures shows alot of Chemistry. Where would one start if they wanted do better their knowlegde on this?

Heeeeeere we go

A renowned alchemy site - There's a LOT of information here.

In particular, there are articles here relating to the physical aspects of alchemy.

Another site, this time offering study courses

And the obligatory Wiki reference

According to Wiki:

One can distinguish at least two major strands, which appear to be largely independent, at least in their earlier stages: Chinese alchemy, centered in China and its zone of cultural influence; and Western alchemy, whose center has shifted over the millennia between Egypt, Greece and Rome, the Islamic world, and finally back to Europe.

So there we have it.

Is this the kind of thing you're looking for?

Hey no prob

If you want (because I am addicted to researching - a hopeless case, I am!), I can see what else is out there, and either U2U them, or make a more comprehensive list on this thread?

That way we'd have a sort of "one-stop shop" for all things alchemy-related.

(If this exists elsewhere on the boards, then I'll probably do one for my own porpoises anyway, and include you on the U2U, chas)
