Should it surprise us about Operation Able Danger? Can we remember the following Operations in the 1960's (to name only a few):

CIA Operation Chaos
CIA Project Resistance
CIA Project Merrimac

all involved:

Each had spied on, burglarized, intimidated, misinformed, lied to, deceived, and carried out criminal acts against thousands of citizens of the United States. Each had placed itself above the law, above the Constitution, and in contempt of international diplomacy and the United States Congress. Each had violated its charter and had contributed either directly or indirectly to the resignation of a President (Nixon) of the United States.

Be kinda' nice to have an operation entitled: Operation Kill Traitor. An operation that is controlled solely by the People, placing all the names and facts and figures on a chart, each chart placed inside a voting booth, and the American people choose which lever is pulled (or if all the levers are pulled). Via each vote, each traitor gets two shots to the temple. Maybe then our traitors in government would cease to subject us to alarming news like Operation Able Danger.

(((((pulls lever)))))...Sandy Berger dead.

The covert operations that you refer to are all conducted by the Covert Operation Staff office, which is a secret office inside of the CIA's Directorate of Operations. These are the people that have been getting the CIA in trouble for years. Their most infamous opertion was Operation Mongoose, the plot to assassinate Fidel Castro. It was Operation Mongoose that lead to the famous Bay of Pigs in the earily 1960's.

A few points to keep in mind:

1) ABLE DANGER was a DoD operation, which is completely different and unrelated to CIA operations.

2) It is a well known fact to those who work with and associate with the CIA that for every glaring failure the DO endures, there are dozens of glorious successes that the general public will never become aware of. That is the curse and the fate of those who work in clandestine services.

So, remember to take all those old, known CIA operations with a grain of salt......

Operation Mongoose was launched AFTER the failed Bay of Pigs in vasion. The U.S. government realized that they had underestimated domestic anger against the Castro regime so the US decided that it must take action unilaterally, and that was Mongoose.
