It appears 200 yds is about it.
30-30
I was going to go with that for my rifle til I read about ranges on
rifles, and accuracy. I decided to go 30-06 to get out past 1,000 yds.
I got a 6 x 16 mil dot illuminated scope via a watch battery,
it has a 5 rnd built in mag.
After talking to ppl I wish I had got a .308 so I could use 7.62mm NATO
rnds and mod it to take a clip.
The best deal would have been a remmington model 7615p .308
that will take 30 rnd clips, and it works pump action so it does not
count as semi-auto and can be used to hunt in any state unless
they have a magazine capacity law, but you can then just show
up with small cap. mags.
The 7615p looks to be a pretty adaptable gun, with fair long range.
For an all around gun you can get a 12ga shot gun with changeable
barrels one rifled for slugs, and the other not.
A shotgun with slugs will take down Kodiak or Moose, and you can switch
barrels and go to bird shot and still have bird left to eat.
