I've recently built my computer from top up.. and I fear I may have installed something incorrectly..

I purchased an Asrock motherboard, model 775V88

Anyhow, everything works great on it except the DVD/CD-Rom

It takes FOREVER to load anything. The autorun feature works, and it also installs programs just fine.. but one of my games (BattleField 2 babbbbbyyyy!) requires a CD inserted to be played..

On my old computer, upon clicking the shortcut, the loading screen would pop up for roughly 10 seconds, on my new computer, with a faster CDrom, it takes upwards of 3-5minutes to load.

Things I've done:

Ensured the CDROM was in the IDE Slot 2
Ensured the CDROM jumpers were set to Master

I havent installed any drivers, none came with the rom.. maybe thats it?

Any ideas?

Can you give us the drive specs, like manufacturer (sp?) speed and your computer specs too?
Your old computer's specs would be appreciated.

But so far with the info you have I am guessing that it would be with the computer and not the CD drive. A game can only load as fast as the processer can, not to mention RAM can have an effect on load times. Or maybe you could have a virus? Highly unlikely though.

I haven't used smilies in a long time.
