First I must say, pardon me for my wording and language usage, for I have been up for nearly 19 hours cleaning up other people's trash in my yard, and overall doing gardening work and reading many other post on conspiracy issues that affect our society today.

Now, Im a big "tree Hugger" as many would say, I LOVE nature and eveything it stands for. I love animals, Love trees, Love plants, bla bla bla you get the picture.

I am so tired of people Neglecting the enviroment. I live in Chicago, and ofcourse its not the cleanest place in the world (FAR from it), but it seems that they make more efforts to Pollute the place than clean it up. Yeah I do my part in cleaning trash where ever i see it and all that. but ofcourse its much higher. The Pollution in the Factories and chemical plants are horrible these days. Reports of people dying from the local ground water contamination are everywhere. expically in the Mid western U.S. and it seems the Goverment is doing minimal efforts to change anything. More focused on the war. Ofcourse; its understandable, its a WAR, but still its sad that they didnt help do this in the 90s or the 80s (wouldnt know about the 70s, wasnt born). The Hippies seemed all about helpin nature
so fun. Practice Love not war man.

Personally i believe that if we wernt always bombing others then we wouldnt hae to worry so much about them bombing us.

As Quoted from the book "Addictided to War: why the U.S. cant kick Militarism (Endourced by the Veterans for Peace):

"The Price of Militarism includes more than high taxes and poor social services. Building nuclear weaponry, for instance, has proably been the biggest envolvemental disaster this country has ever seen. More than 100 nuclear weapons plants owned by the Enertgy Department have been spewing radioactive waste into the air, dumping it in rivers, and leaking it into the soul and ground water for decades. (All by the cover of government conspiracy)"

"The Administrators who run the nuclear weapons plants have knowingly subjected the people who work in them and the people who live near them to deadly radioactive contamination without telling them a word of it."

"The Government now estimates that it will take 25,000workers at least 30 years to clean up the mess at these plants at a cost of $300 bullion or more. Whats more, nuclear weapons test have spread deadly plutonium across large tracts of the southwest and the South Pacific. Many of the 458,000 U.S. soldiers who participated in the atomic testing program are now dying or dead of cancer."

And Plutonium remains Highly radioactive for hundreds of thousands of years.

"Meanwhile at military bases around the country the've been dumping hundreds of thousands of tons of toxic waste. Includin chemical warfare agents, napalm, explosives, PCB's and heavy metals, creating maligant lagoons and contaminating the ground wwater of surrounding communities."

yeah my mom worked in a chemical plant, and she was exposed to radiation and such, and the chemical plant made waste more than any in the entire county. They contaminated the ground water where alot of nearby farms were destroyed becus of their wells were pretty much usless and made many people VERY sick. And my mom had to shower and drink that water, becus they didn't really tell their co-workers because the co-workers are peons >

Moving to Fragile Earth -- and yes, I agree with you!

I think that perhaps some of the problem is that we're becoming an Urban Nation and we don't value our land as much as our grandparents did. If you depend on the land for food, then you don't destroy it with trash.

Unfortunately, those fighting that other war find a War on Pollution would get in their way...

Disinformation Syndrome - Afflicts Federal Government
Officials Routinely Rewarded for Lying and Punished for Telling the Truth

Washington, DC — The federal government suffers from a “severe disinformation syndrome” in which agency specialists are pressured to alter reports by managers who are promoted for breaking the law, according to congressional testimony delivered today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). As a consequence, scientific and technical papers, particularly within environmental agencies, are routinely censored, altered or manipulated for political purposes.

“The Bush administration obsession with controlling the flow of information means that factual information that does not serve its political agenda rarely sees the light of day,” stated PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch who testified today. “Public servants who wish to speak honestly about matters outside officially approved agency talking points are required to cast a profile in courage because their honesty could cost them their jobs.”

Because a 'War on Pollution' is unnecessary.

The U.S. is getting cleaner. The air is cleaner. The water is cleaner. Forest cover is expanding and the amount of old growth forest is increasing. The U.S. produces less waste product per dollar of economic output than earlier generations. We still have a long ways to go but we are headed in the right direction.

The corner has already been turned. Why do so many people refuse to accept victory?

Byrd, well said and you bring up a good subject, it seems that the natives of every country valued the land. Overall, held some sort of respect for the other tribes and cultures. but once invaders entered, Respect for native cultures, tribes, and land have all dwindled into meager fabrications of their once proud and former glory.

Benevolent Heretic, Very well said aswell, this world is truely messed up upon many aspects.

dave_54, so many people refuse to accept "victory" because very little people see victory or the effects of such. IF there is a "victory" then its like a small cure that is spreading slower than the virus before it. Thus everything in the virus's path sees matters as "it will only get worse before it gets better" then the cure comes. But i have not seen any cure, only the virus of pollution. Yes I do agree there are some organizations that are cleaning the earth, making it a better place. I must say I owe them my life for attempting to make such a change. But in my eyes I see more pollution than cleaning, thus drowning out the organized cleaning of the land, air, and sea. I still live in a city where if u go into the lake, you WILL get very sick from many chemicals including Mercury and lead. And the millions of car exaust with the factories and who knows what else in the air is causing smog. And as you said:

" The U.S. produces less waste product per dollar of economic output than earlier generations."

It truely doesnt look that way to where im living, nor where i was formerly living. It appears there is more trash and waste and less recycling factories. I live in Chicago for a year now and i have yet to see any recycling plant, and all the people that i have asked, that have lived here for their entire lives, have said they have never herd of any recycling plant around here either.

but tks for your comment, good to hear someone that opposes my thoughts.

Well, IMO, the air may be cleaner in most parts of the US, but I am living near downtown Fort Worth, TX, and the pollutants/allergens/whatever are killing me! I've lived in Fort Worth, now, for 15 years, and this is the worst year ever.

Usually, the "dead" of the summer is better, as far as respiratory problems go.

I have moved closer to downtown (wish now I hadn't) and I believe that's part of the reason things are so much worse...but I feel there's something else, too! Everyone is suffering so much, it seems, from respiratory problems, right now, around here...it's absolutely horrible! I'd almost swear a conspiracy, or something is going on (I'm very sensitive to everything and just feel strange lately). Something in the air? Water? What is happening...is it just me??? Anybody else in this area (Dallas/Ft. Worth) feel this way? Or see it in others?

It seems alot of people From Metropolises and exposed to downtown areas are more sensitive to recieving respratory problems, but you have to understand all of the different pollution factors, you have air pollution, maybe new factories are poppin up in your area (or even not cus pollution can travel quite a distance:S) water pollution, earth pollution ofcourse and who knows what else. Our immunities and overall health is MUCH worse than it has ever been it seems. So many different medicines that could have a negative long term effect on our bodies and our children's bodies aswell of we so choose to have them.

indeed its alittle messed up....

I live in the second most polluted city in the US but it never seems to get to me. We are also the fattest but I am not fat.

OUr grandparents were much worse with the environment than we are, and same goes for their grandparents. Remember in London when people would sufficate because the pollution got so bad? I don't hear about that too often.

Yes that was quite an extreme, in 1952 4,000 people died from the "Killer Fog" in London. The killer smog was 'smog'. Smog is the worst because that is when the air pollution clings onto the heavy moisture in the air, creating a cloud of pollution. They didn't all just simply suffocate, but they did suffer from smog caused deaths.

Smog still kills many today.
Air pollution in and around Los Angeles is calculated to cause about 1,400 extra cancer cases per million people.

In Toronto, it is estimated that hundreds of premature deaths and thousands of hospital admissions every year are caused by air pollution.
