Parapsychology has noted this on small scales to be a psychic ability.

There are said to be two types one who can receive and one who can imprint their emotions onto other people.

They can be experienced through dreams or through real time application. I don't know if personal experience counts as anything but I had psychic empathy in the forms of dreams. Life counselors and humanistic therapists seem to have a powerful sense of empathy that appears to be almost psychic in nature-or at least the good ones at their professions.

Both are very dangerous and shouldn't be treated lightly. This ability can be opened and controlled through the use of meditations. There are also triggers such as music, which may cause you to open whatever kind of channels that produces this phenomenon

My empathy doesn't control me and I have no control over it. It is a gift from the God who controls the universe. I realize that it's not about making predictions and telling the world how accurate I was. It's more about the developing the ability to communicate on a higher level with the highest power. Anything that I receive intellectually or emotionally or intuitively is a gift.

I admitted that it can sometimes be excruciating for me to have comprehension wash over me but don't misunderstand me, I only receive the information that I am willing and able to receive.

For the ones searching for help on this subject, I can offer one main suggestion: Read. And read on everything. No matter how out there something may seem to you when you first hear of it, read about it anyway. You might find in it a kernel of knowledge. And a single kernel can help profoundly.

Remember not to close your mind to the experiences and knowledge life gives you. Learn and then see if the concept fits you; don't dismiss something out of hand. Opening you mind opens your senses as well, and you can only be taught as much as you are willing to learn.

First off, I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughtful replies. I will start reading up on this stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions for good starter books? Thanks ET that really spoke to me. This journey of self discovery is crazy... but its beautiful. Sorry about the spelling errors too! I am a college student. Which is all the more reason I should be spelling correctly! Going to college is a conspiracy in its self if I might add.

.......... off topic but
Please forgive me. I am young, liberal and a believer that we all our capable of caring and being intune with eachother. No one said this life was suppose to be easy and it isn't. I can feel and experience the frustrations and joys that the people close to me encounter on this road to self discovery. I suppose this is because I am still safe in the havens of the college world... so I will enjoy the outlook for now & be content with the fact that I know nothing... and have a lot to learn.

Forgiveness is unnecessary.

That's the beauty of life. Consider the following analogy:
If you were to spin a globe and throw a dart at it and it stuck wherever:

Then consider where the dart landed an individuals starting point, then draw a straight line in any direction and continue it, you would eventually reach the same starting point, since the globe is not exactly round.

What I'm saying is that whatever path you walk, as long as you are not inerupted from it, you will eventually reach the point from which your journey began.

It is easy to see how people are the manifestation of thier state of mind. It is only an illusion that thier state of mind is not: TRUTH LOVES TRUTH.

I witness people all the time who think and operate at the mindsets:
Fear fears fear, but is not alone
Love loves fear
fear loves love
fear loves truth
love fears love
fear loves fear
fear hates fear
etc, etc, etc .......

It is my personal feeling, everyone loves truth, whether they know they do or not. The best way to view the world is the state of mind:
Truth loves Truth. That is my opinion.

Some people who I had an instant bond with when we met seem to be more tuned into my empathy so that I get very solid and quite specific messages or feelings from them that often change my mood, whether I want them to or not. Also, myself and the close person are almost totally unable to hide our feelings from each other. My fiance and I have tried many times, in hopes of stopping the process and not bringing the other down. Even with my best effort, and hers too, our feelings are obvious. It is lucky for me that this empathetic mood changing only happens with a few people and rare event. If it is possible to still remain empathic and yet not affected by the feelings, I hope to learn how to. If it is just part of the deal, I would rather be empathic than not anyway, since it is a vital part of my life relationship choices and my gut feelings about other people.

IndigoBird,

I agree with Amarenell that you should certainly look at everything you can find. Take what speaks to you, ignore what does not. I only have a single book that I ask all of my Students to read and it is:

Positive Magic: Ancient Metaphysical Techniques for Modern Lives by Marion Weinstein.

It does not matter if you choose to follow Wicca or not, the wisdom in that book is basic and a very good place to start.

Amarenell,

Good to see you again, I hear you are doing well and that makes me rather happy.

BlackGuardXIII,

I think your attitude on Empathy is quite healthy. I do understand the desire to not 'bring down' your fiance, but really is that not part of being in Love? She is there to help you when you need it just as you are for her.

However, you can learn to control your Empathy without destroying your ability to make use of it. Simple techniques for shielding, or filtering, what you wish are not hard to learn at all. I feel this is just as important as learning to feel the emotions of others. You are aware of the big ones, but it is the subtle ones that can be dangerous. Without some control you might be reacting to things that you do not even realize you are getting from others. Any good book on visualization will help, but you have to start with the idea that you can control your abilities. Believe that and you are half of the way to your goal.

Hey I am new to doing this but this topic is very interesting for me. I am a very empathetic personal, I am not sure why, it was proabably just the way I was brought up. Just have a question, does anyone else get really random memories of things that could not of possiblely happen to you but certain it happen. It's just that I have a bad memory but I am intelligent and whenever I empathsis with other people I recall situations in memory where I felt that way, but sometimes the memories I get or are they dreams. Could not of happen to me! I also experience alot of dae ja vu. Being in new places but somehow I know it.

Now the questions I have for this forum:

Do you think we could be the one entity, Everything and Nothing?
Could empathy be the getway to remembering all your pass lives?
Is death the reason why you forget?
