Ok, first was amount of post. Then amount and stars. Then just stars. Then stars and little ATS level bars. Now a mood meter. What next????

I liked the ATS level bars best. But hey, not an It Admin. or anything like that. Just wondering why they keep changing that stuff.

To make the site the best possible. Personally i like the ats level bars that were the smaller ones.

Space saving issues....
I'm sure there are some "technical" reason for this enhancement James.

Personally, I come here for the topics, the information and the conversation, not the awards and the post count 'thingys', etc.

Seekrof, I know that stuff isn't important, but still, find a system and stick with it. What if they changed the posting thing every month? Or what words could be used? One month can't say heel but can say maybe, next month can't say either but can say shibbydibbywibby. Or well to keep bad posts from happening, you must have at least three lines or it won't post. Two weeks later... You must have five lines or it won't post. Month later.... You must have four lines in two paragraphs or it won't post.

Oh well, thanks though Seekerof and Ninja.

Just to clarify (I think I mentioned this somewhere), the three level bars were interesting and cute... and a lot of fun. However, they relied on programming that was working just fine when we were getting 300-400 posts a day. Right now we're at 1355 posts in the past 24 hours (!) and at that level, the programming overhead for the 3 colorful bars was too much for something that was simply a fun spin on post count.

The new points system will be much better in the long term as we now have a real way to reward the following:
Posting
Good posting
Great posting
Winning the Way Above
Winning debate tournaments
Getting traffic to your blog (soon part of your points)

Long term... more things will be happening as a result of points... good stuff... real stuff... you'll see.

I would still include the old "ATS Level" (sans colored bars) done on the same formulas, to enable members to distinguish the post history/volume of members.

Once a member has spent their points, they could look like every other member with the exception of some peacock feathers.

The only distinguishing feature while reading a Topic is then the registration date.

I would like to be reminded of the ATS Level of the individual. Just a personal preference.

Good point...still, see Seekerof's comments as mine mirror them... I come here for the conversation and topics, not atta boys... Still, was kinda fun to add the second line, and change the title when I want....and to get rid of that #in' filter
(sorry, but c'mon, we've got a new toy....
Nah...I won't abuse it much....)

As William stated, the old system relied too much on system resources, and with the extremely high level of posting on the board, it was no longer a feasible option.

However, the new points system will still allow you to gauge an individual's "level", based on how high the number is.

Fear not faithful board bombers... a new system is deviously being devised to further confused and confound new members, while giving oldtimes a new way to show both their legacy of posting prowess and insider's appreciation all in one very simple little display of graphic simplicity!

Coming soon to a mini-profile near you.

... I would have to say that "NEEDING" a "metre" that tell others of your status is a bit INSECURE is it not?

I would think that sheer Bravado and WIT of the post's high minded intrigue would far outweigh the pulchritude of little bars that detract form the server's ability to process our banter!

P.S. Willaim and Simon - I am EXPECTING an insider appreciation form this post...

Under your personal mood meter, is a new bar that provides a three-fold purpose...

The length is a function of your posts (about 1 pixel for every 25 posts).

The color is a function of your insider appreciation... the more appreciation you have, the more red your bar gets. 100 or more appreciation points get's you a 100% red bar.

The alt tag on the bar contains the actual post count.

bing-bang-boom.

Oh... the staff has nice attractive gold bars.

I guess I am happy with the length of my BAR.

It's not as long as Gazrok's BAR, but he really needs to have a long bar to placate his ogrous ardency.

Springer's BAR on the other hand looks grey and withered. He needs some kind of extension program. I really hope he doesn't feel insecure with it, but I sense with some magic pills and more effective posting, he can be proud of his manhood like the others on display here.

Somehow I knew this would turn into a gential competition.
Why are boys so obsessed with their bars and the relative size of others' bars??

Like I said, I'm happy with mine, and Springer said he had no insecurities about his (pulls out ATS magnifying glass), so I was just checking.

Yours is quite nice too, Banshee.

'Tis rare to find a boy who is satisfied with the size of his bar.
Just remember, it isn't the size, it's how well you use your.....um, posting abilities.

Yours is quite nice too, Banshee.

You should see my insider appreciation.
