Lurker here - just dropping by to post, I used to have this - a lot - and it is frightening, oddly I'd don't get this anymore, I seem to have grown out of it. Not that I'm complaining or anything

Thank you, Thank you. Im so glad other people suffer from this so i could read your experiences which funnily enough made me feel a cold shiver down my back. I suffer from this a lot and have even seen my doctor and the military doctor when i was serving in the forces and neither of them took me seriously. I have some very strange experiences and all of them Evil ones for some odd reason.

My own theory is that the mind selects "bad" experiences as part of the human survival instinct, we need to be nervous in the wild so to say. It is the same as being in the forest at nighttime; you think see things move and get bad vibes but it's just you imagination that is playing tricks with you, in the wild we would need to be more nervous as there are dangerous animals and such
When you manage to control your mood in a SP experience nothing really happends and you just wait it out. I have even chased dark creatures out of my room during a SP experience, you can actually control the experience you know.

"Scientific?" It's odd to me to see how this word is sometimes used. For instance, is there anything "unscientific" about my theory above? I can show you plenty of examples of predators in your daily life. You are one. I can show you examples of prey, too. What did you eat this morning?

Sorry I bothered asking.

Think you should lay off the caffeine mate.

Ive suffered from sleep paralysis twice, both last year and both in the same house!

I woke up to find that i could not move any part of my body and i felt as though there was pressure being applied to my legs!

But, i believe the persons house i was at is haunted so at the time i just put it down to that, it was only later i read about sleep paralysis here at ATS!

I keep waking to find that my whole body is vibrating at such a high frequency that it feels like a mild but numb electric shock. I seem to be paralysed and cannot even move my mouth to ask my partner for help i feel really stuck. Then everything goes calm and i seem to enter a heightened sense of awareness and everthing around me material wise seems irrelevant. I can see myself on the bed however i am in a timeless period and i can feel a force around me of immense spiritulism. Last time it happened about 2 weeks ago i got really upset as i went into my kids bedroom (floated not walked) and realised that if i did not get back inside my material body i may never get the chance to see them again thats when the horror started to begin. I was being pulled into what i can only ddescribe as a different dimension and i was watching strange people going about there normal daily lives i remember them looking at me and smiling as if i was "another one of those visitors" however i was so upset as i wanted to be home for my kids. This visitation lasted about 12 hours however when coming back to reality only half an hour had seemed to pass. It as if i was in a realm where material objects and time itself seemed not to exsist. When i suddenly was pulled back into my body the vibration/pain was immense and i felt sore and weak all day long the next day. This has been happening on and off since about the age of 3 and it does not get any easier i hate it however it is so peaceful and warm i suppose as it has been happening since i was a child it has an effect on me which makes me scared however deep inside i know its a lovely feeling.

Iposted the above comment on a thread about obe as i think that may have something to do with sleep paralysis although lately i get the sense of a tall dark shadowy figure next to me and to be honest i sense evil in this person so so much. I also suffer pain the next day.

I have had this type of experience before. I havn't suffered it for about 3 years now, thankfully. I hadn't even really thought about it since then until I saw this thread and then I remembered it. Normally I would wake up and not be able to move or speak, but I do remember feeling terrified like some malevolent force was in my room or that I was about to be killed. Time would pass and I would relax and then the feeling would leave and I could move. Not sure what was happening to cause this, and now I am curious to read about any research that has gone into this. I hadn't told anybody about this becuase I thought that it was a very odd thing, so I'm glad to know that others have experienced the same thing!

I'll tell you one of the strangest experiences I ever had and it was with sleep paralysis. I was living in a different house at the time, and I was up late at nearly midnight reading a book about different unexplained stuff, this was like when I was 17 or 18. There was a part in the book which explained that one could summon a particular demon by saying something three times at midnight. It was around the right time, so with typical dismissive teenage bravado I said the thing whatever it was (pretty stupid thing to do)

I woke up a few hours later with the extremely real sensation of being grabbed around the legs, pulled off of my bed and swung around my bedroom in circles. I had the feeling of vertigo, and I felt a presence with me that was taking great glee in how terrified I was.

It didn't last for too long, and as I slowly woke up properly I realized I was paralyzed. I was trying to scream but could only let a small noise out, eventually I got control of my body and left the room pretty darn quick, ended up dragging my mattress out of the room and sleeping on the floor in my parent's room.

My mom explained that I had sleep paralysis, which seemed reasonable to me, and after that I had it a few more times (minus the demonic presence swinging me around my room) and the first few times it was scary but I got over it. It hasn't happened in maybe 6-7 years now.

The things I find most interesting about the entire thing, is that I had actually dreamed I woke up, which is something I've heard about but has never happened to me before, also it was very vivid, which is also unusual since my dreams have never felt real before. The other thing is that the huge coincidence of me getting sleep paralysis for the first time, a couple of hours after making fun of a demon.

I've been getting bouts of sleep para since I was a kid. Is it aliens visiting me? Doesnt matter how often it's happened, it always feels like there is an evil presence in the room. I've read research that suggests it is to do with the hormone that's released when we sleep that stops the muscles acting out our dreams - kind of like the opposite of sleep walking. Problem with that theory is that although I'm not fully awake, I'm definately not asleep! Anyone got anyhting to add?

No, Aliens are not visiting you. MANY if not MOST people get sleep paralysis often with feelings of terror it is quite common and quite normal please stop flattering yourself. I myself get it all the time.

I think it is something to do with stem cells! I believe part of the brain comes to life with more spiritual energy and one is taken up to another level of consiousness not understood by medical science or any other science for that matter. I have hasd sleep paraysis for many years now and with hand on heart i know i am not asleep or half asleep...WIDE AWAKE!!! I can't even to begin with what has happened to me, but it's blown my little world out of the water! Not that i would wish sp on my worst enemy, but something isn't right! Theres some kind of intellegence out there having lot's of fun with us, maybe a mild way of putting it?

I have had it many times. I have seen small goblins pointing and laughing at me, old men and woman crying or shouting my name at deafening volumes. Also have felt "evil" presence, been touched by something, and been spoken to nicely. All these experiences started with sleep paralysis. I have had a full out of body experience from "rolling out" of my sleep paralysis. It usually happens when i lie on my back, but ever since i had an OBE they stopped happening so much. The key is to relax and try and enjoy it, ignoring anything that is scaring you and understanding that you cant be harmed.

hey there, heres a thread i started a while back, some of it might interest you

www.abovetopsecret.com...&flagit=431808

heres a little bit of what happened to me

i get into my bed and i will lie thre for hours not being able to sleep and constantly checking over my shoulder feeling a presence of some sort. eventually i will slowly calm down lie on my back which i find most comfortable to sleep. around 5 mins after lying on my back i am completly paralysed and the best way i can explain it is its like im being electrocuted but there is no pain and my mind goes sort of fuzzy but it feels like its going into overdrive ( sorry if im not making much sense but i dont know how best to describe it ). i try to move and try to shout out but the only noise i can make is a raspy sort of croaking noise, i feel a presence to my right side ( that is with all three times ) then all of a sudden its gone and im stangely extremely calm. then i will sleep soundly and have the most vivid dreams of my life where iam travelling at extreme speed through stars and galaxys, suddenly i stop at a planet which i dont know and ill see a civilization of peace and technology that i couldnt even imagine, once i wake in the morning i feel a sense of content and a little bit more knowledgable.

i hope it helped alittle my friend, anyways check out the thread, its from my old user account cause i forgot my password and put the wrong email in haha, silly buger i am

anyway thanks for sharing your experience my friend
peace

I actually developed a need for a fan while I sleep, because this would happen to me a lot as a kid. At the time of course I thought it was aliens abducting me. I'd even see figures standing around my bed when it would happen.

I'd sleep all night with the covers over my head and the fan blasting air underneath.

I've had sleep paralysis episodes fairly often since I was 5 or 6.
The first ones were in our bathroom when I was just a toddler.
I was in the bathroom and the door was closed. Something was on the other side of the door and I couldn't move or scream or hide.
Later in life it was lying in bed with something next to me whispering in my ear. Same thing-I was terrified and couldn't move. I've had these all of my life.
I had an episode about 4 years ago where I broke free of my paralysis (in the dream, not physically) and actually chased this thing down and attacked it. I woke up a few seconds later. I was still scared as hell but I had managed to do something besides be a victim.
I haven't had a sleep paralyasis episode in the four years since.

I sometimes have them. Pretty scary #. It can happen to me day or night. My most recent experience was at night. I was laying in my bed and saw a human shadow crossing the door of the room and that shadow went in the washroom then and slammed the door violently. I was freaking out, i knew i wasn't exactly sleeping or completely awake. I thought that shadow would come to my room after and then i heard footstep running for me and i was in my bed shaking like hell and then i came back to reality.

It's always menacing experiences but interesting ones after you come to your senses.

John
