What if I were to say this is the 21st century, and we need new
laws and the First Amendment was written more than 200 years ago by a bunch of dead, White males who owned slaves and it's still around, it's still the law of the land, but it's about time to make some changes?

1st Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

You mean this, right? I don't see anything wrong with it myself, and I don't see the relevance the nature of those who wrote it (dead, White, slave-owning males). Would you care to elaborate as to what changes you think need to be made?

That idea was form the all white National Alliance. Ironic, isn't it.

Now they're pushing hard for "speech crime" legislation, so that people
can be punished whether they do anything or not. The general rationale
they use is that as our society becomes more and more "diverse" and
multicultural, we all have to be more careful what we say or write, lest
we offend someone. If we offend someone there may be a public
disturbance, perhaps even a riot. If we want our society to be peaceful
and prosperous, then we all should be careful what we say; we all should
be careful not to say something that may offend a homosexual or a
feminist or a Jew or a Black or what have you. The real threats to a
peaceful, prosperous society, they would have us believe, are the
dissidents, the people who insist on expressing Politically Incorrect
ideas or exposing Politically Inconvenient facts, the people who
deliberately offend other people. They're as bad as terrorists. We need
laws to protect society from them. We need "speech crime" laws, they
tell us.

That's their rationale. They're pushing it slowly and carefully. Every
time they complain about something I've said or something I've
published, they are careful to say, "Well, there's nothing we can do to
stop him, because of the First Amendment." And the implication is that
it's too bad there's nothing they can do to stop me. There ought to be a
way to stop me. After all, this is the 21st century, and we need new
laws. The First Amendment was written more than 200 years ago by a bunch
of dead, White males who owned slaves. It's still around, it's still the
law of the land, but it's about time to make some changes. At the very
least, the police need to keep an eye on Pierce and other Politically
Incorrect dissidents.

Ahhh... actually, if I'm interpreting their comment (as well as yours in regards to the irony) correctly, they're saying that's what those pushing for "speech crime" legislation are implying by asserting their defeat by the 1st amendment. Are my assumptions correct?

What I find ironic is they are, in essence, implying the same thing by attacking those who are attacking them. If they didn't disagree with that viewpoint, they wouldn't be barking about it, would they? And at the same time, I'd place my money on the idea that everyone has, at one point in time or another, had the quasi-childish desire to have all of the laws changed just to suit themselves as this person is complaining about. It's basic human nature; you want things done your way, and you want everything to be all nice and purty as you feel it should be.

In the same fashion, yes, deep down inside I feel that the laws should be changed to stop people like this from doing these things (ie making video games--I believe this is the same company mentioned in a handful of other spots on the boards). In that same deep-down place, I also feel that I--and only I--should have the right to run red lights, never have to pay a dime for anything, and have hundreds of people waiting on me hand and foot at every moment I want them to. But I don't do anything about those desires (outside of GTA that is), and that's generally what makes most humans "civilized."

My two cents...

Democrats have already begun to destruct the 1st ammendment with warning labels, movie ratings, a list of 7,000 words not appropriate for television or radio, censors to block out a woman's chest, hate crimes, etc....
