Micro$oft World take 0ver!

Micro$oft Is planning on Makeing there OWN internet! Makeing the own intrent you ask? Yes There new X-Box is the Gateway to there take over. This may sound strange but just hear me out... There new X-Box is sold as a games Machine. Correct but its a PC in a different BOX it has everything a pc Needs its got RAM a Hard Disk Processor every componant and it also has Enough space to have add ons like CD-RW's and soon it is going to be brought online.. Knowing micro$oft they are going to allow Web pages and alot of stuff that you can get on the internet you'll be able to find on the New Microsoft internet.. But this is going to be an internet that is policeable ... No Porn this is going to make parents very happy knowing there kids aint gunna see porn and they will get an X-Box insted of PC's then Microsoft will control there own internet......WHAT WILL THEY DO WITH THIS??

Anyway, you can buy a PC and a Playstation, you don't have to buy the Bill Box.

And Microsoft has failed to dominate the server market, the router market... and there's a lot of things I don't see them taking over.

Like I said before... just like IBM. In another 10 years, they'll be knocked off the pedistal by someone else.

speaking of x-boxes, yes it is a cheap pc. for 200 bucks u get all the goodness of a computer. ethernet card, dvd drive, ddr memory, hard drive, great graphics card...etc. microsoft actually loses money making each x-box unit. the profit is in the software. heres a site that bill gates doesnt want u to see.

It sounds similar to the way that K-Mart used to sell the old Commodore 64's way back when...Remember the good 'ol days of the "slower-n-snails" 1541 disk drive?

K-Mart used to sell the C64 at $1 over *cost*...Because they'd make more profit with the peripheals & software to go with it.

let them have the gaming console commodity market. As Byrd pointed out, they have yet to touch other key markets. I don't think the playstation is going anywhere either.

MS has the desktop and 'office' software market. I think linux will take hold in both these areas shortly and is catching on quick in the server market, which MS is far from taking over. Outside the workgroup server running an NT variant, most higher end servers are running Sun, SGI, HP, or something IBM. Linux will be able to fit in anywhere. I recently read a story where Wal-Mart is selling pc's with a Linux version called Lindows.

All these factors will keep MS at bay. If they would make a product that didn't so many flaws in it!

I do like my MS mouse though.

Back to the original post, I don't see how they are going to make their own 'internet' with the xbox.

Where as M$ does want to own the internet-it is not going to do it through selling xboxs.
It may-however do it by owning the "6" octet ip address idea.
This is one of the big reasons noone is willing to allow the change from 4 to 6 octets in IP address's-even though we are very fast running out of address's.

anyway M$ can never "own" whole ranges of IP addresses, ICANN gives out IP addresses

I don't think thats true about accessing porn. You can chip your xbox to play pirated games so you will probably be able to do the same to get porn

I'm sure the government will come in and take a massive dump all over any such ambitions that Microsoft has and thus the shat will hit the greater economy itself. Antitrust has always been met with scrutiny, but if Microsoft wishes to comander a portion of the fiber optic lines, so be it, it is their right...or are you angry that you will not be able to look at porn on this new internet?

this is gonna be a nightmare if they do they havnt even released my favorite game (halo 2) for PC yet!

Zion, it is not the range of ip address's it owns, but the legal patent on 6 octet ip's.
Since it owns the patent, it can control what is done with "it's" technology.
They can refuse to allow some to use it-are u listening apple and linux or they can charge people fee's to use it.
Once they can control who uses the ip's and get $ for it, they will, in effect own the internet.
