Mozilla and ATS

I switched to Mozilla 1.3 a couple of months ago and love it. Tabbed viewing, pop-up control, secure password management, cool skins. Check it out if you haven't.

Everything was great until about a week ago. For some reason some threads appear much wider than others and require that I scroll left and right. Whereas most threads, the word wrap displays everything in a standard window. Anyone else running Mozilla/Netscape having this problem?

How many threads?

Any examples?

I think the text problem wrapping is happening in I.E. as well, occasionally.

I'm not a propellerhead who understands why, but is this necessarily a browser issue?

There is something doing on that thread in I.E. as well, but not as severe.

The post column is widened (still readable on screen) but the sponsored links column is shifted right, only just visible without scrolling right.

I don't know about automatic screen resizing (except doing it myself).

Sometimes I notice a wide image will widen the centre column.

I'll install mozilla 1.3 later today on my computer so I can check out what's wrong, but it is probably caused by the long URL's in the first post.

I have no problems at all with IE in that thread.

What is your screen resolution?

800 x 600 for me.

Are you saying, Zion, you can see the whole of the column of sponsored links on both pages of that thread?

I have seen this issue come up and be explained before (within I.E. at least).

1024x768. When I use IE to view the same thread it looks fine. I think you're right though Zion. The URL seems to be causing the widening.

I think it's the 800x600 that also causes some problems. That, in combination with the long URL's and the right banner column.

Solution; get yourself a 21" TFT screen

It's the same for everyone... because of a long link with no spaces for line wraps in MKULTRA's post. It happens.

I use IE 5 and it looks fine to me.

21" TFT is the best suggestion.

Being an amateur webmaster myself, and having wrestled with Mozilla's numerous problems, I can tell you that this is because Mozilla is a horrible browser, when it comes to interpreting code. It has numerous table problems, among other things. Opera also has these quirks. Learn to get used to it, if you want to use Mozilla. You'll find more and more instances of little annoyances such as this. I've learned to hate Mozilla.
