Ummm, perhaps the quote from the Urban Legends website you linked might shed some light?

Answer: zilch. This is a giant hoax.

The image first surfaced as an entry in an October 2002 Photoshop contest run by Worth1000.com. It was created by manipulating an actual photo of a Cornell University excavation of a mastodon skeleton.

I have seen this posted before. Some of our Photoshop people determined it to be a fake. Do a search using 'urban legends' and 'giant skeleton' on the ATS search function. You're bound to find a few threads on it.

edit: Yow! EW beat me to it

It's not only a fake..it's a prize winning fake.

The photo was done for a photoshop contest a while ago, maybe..'02, '03, somewhere in that neighborhood.

The only reason I know is because this topic has been discussed twice in my short time here.

The site seems to say it's fake already. Personally I have no choice but to agree. How could you possibly explain such a thing? I am all for alternative views on everything from history to reality but this so out of the blue!
It is fun though, made me laugh! Quite imaginative and inspiring from a fictional point of view too!!

The site the link is to is also in my opinion a great site! Loads of intriguing things there! Unlike here on ATS though, you have to decide for yourself.

last time I read this photo was a hoax in some other website.

It does not mean we should rule out possiblities of giants either as the examples below explain.
