Ok..so i have been thinking. In the future our technology will be advanced enough to make computers really think for themselves. They will be able to sort out everyday problems, figure out the best way to stop wars, even go to the extremities to as they will be able to reproduce themselves. So after all this, will humans have a role to play? Eventually computers will be able to do everything that humans do and better! Unemployment will be high as every business can now run of computers and every supermarket will have automated tills! So where will we stand?!!!

Was just hoping if i could get some thoughts on this, as its really doing my head in

Computers only do what they are programmed to do (if we forget the bugs), and artificial intelligence is still a long way from becoming useful in uncontrolled environments.

The Industrial Revolution is a good thing to study if you are worried about machines taken over the work of people.

Also, do not forget that we were told that computers would make our offices paperless, and the result was quite the opposite.

well u need to print the stuff the computer churned out

or else u wont have a physical record of it doh

salesmen lie to buisnesses too...

anyways

i think the computers and machines have already taken over
all we need to do is develop AI and let the AI have full control
then we will be screwed

right now the machines and computers are brainless and cannot form an attack strategy agianst us
so its best we keep them in the dark, for good

AI should always be limited

but our society would collapse if you took away our computers and machines
everything would disintigrate
we have become 100% dependant on them

few of us remember how to survive in the wild
they should definatly print more survival guides just in case

but ya; the computers have already taken over

Would economies be able to profit and survive from just robots and computers (in the future of course) and if they could what would we do as humans

Not unless we let them. But people will want to, so they might unless our leaders are avid Matrix fans.

At the rate AI is advancing its only a matter of time before man and machine come into conflict. Its not a question of will it happen, its a question of when.

Heres a few things to keep in mind:

Shoot for the eyes (Cameras) a machine that can't see you can't attack you. Shoot for the sensors next, just because the cameras are out doesn't mean it can't locate you with infra red. Since the machines have difficulty in rough terrain and navigate by maps we'll have to destroy all known roads with bombs and build new ones that we can't tell the machines about. Machines always place things in categories so we'll have to roll out the tanks and as they prepare for a ground war we'll hit them from the air. They'll never see it coming. Anyone who can write a computer virus will be a front line soldier in this war, if we can't beat them with strength we damn sure can poison their CPU's. We'll need to shut down GPS till the end of the war, they won't know where to go or where they are without it. Use decoys all you can. A robot can't distinguish between a dummy bomb and a real one, while its trying to sort out whats what, shoot it in the eyes.

The more I think about it, this really wouldn't be much of a war. Man is the most viscious creation under the stars. Bring them mechanical bastards on.

Well first of all we dont know how the brain really works so AI is nothing more than Artificial Intelligence. something that seems alive but is stone dead. If we are the spirit/sole some sort of energy that lives, then humans is just a another container for the spirits. So would we like something that is totally dead and cant feel anything how life is take over for us? no dubt it it would not be wise. we will probably make ourself better with technology maby creaty new different containers(bodies) for our self. "If we want it we create it" thats how i think the future will be. Very eternal with no loss of anything.

We could allways 'asimov' the AI, that is program it to follow the 3 (and possible 4) laws of robotics
