BEIJING (Reuters) - Thousands of Chinese rioted in a dispute sparked by a lopsided roadside brawl, set fire to cars and wounded six police officers in an outburst likely to worry communist leaders in Beijing desperate to cling on to power.

The official Xinhua news agency, in a rare report on a local disturbance, blamed Sunday's riot in Chizhou in dirt-poor eastern Anhui province on a few criminals who led the "unwitting masses" astray.

What?! Good 'ol China?! No way! These guys are favored in the world over the U.S.!

These are just the riots that bug all nations as they industrialise. Look at the lollards in England and their campaigns against trains.

People are aware that they are missing out so they protest. Eventually they get the same as everyone else and go back to being happy little workers.

lopsided brawl ? as in the po-lice whoppin up on a peasant ?

if so, go peasants !

Lollards were a group of people who were opposed to the trains, found them to be unnatural when they were first brought out.

Mostly they were farmers who found themselves undercut now transport was cheaper, so they moaned.

Come to think of it, same principle as farm subsidies.

The government has tanks and flame throwers........

Yeah and a few years ago thousands of Americans in Columbus Ohio rioted, burning cars, causing injuries to police offers when the Buckeyes lost a damn football game. And yet I'm still here.

It all fell quiet soon after. I doubt this is the impetus for bringing down an entire country.
