Info on Marine Missions

Okay, b4 we get started, ignore my username.

Alright, I've been curious on what regular US Marine Missions r. I mean, it's obvious they do a lot, but I don't want a number, I want types. lol! I've even had our Marine Recruiter come 2 r JROTC Class, but she never said much bout the missions themselves, so I'm stuck.

I'm trying 2 find out more on them, I mean, I know more bout Marine Recon and the Marine Scout Snipers than I do a average Marine.

They're the Rapid Reaction Force for the US. They go in as a sort of blocking force until the really heavy stuff can be there. Missions where the Army is too heavy a force, they send in the Marines (ie Somalia, Embassy guards etc).

i have a pretty good grasp on what the Marines do, most likely because of what my father ( Cpl. Joseph W. Lucas, USMC) has taught me. United States Marines are known as the tip of the spear. They are also known as the first to fight. In a war, the Marines are sent in to clear out the bulk insurgency. After there job is done, the army, and Air Force move in and set up bases. The remaining Marines stay and act as security guards and defend the bases. The Army helps the Marines in clearing out remaining enemy forces. Hope I cleared it up for you.

What other special types of missions do they go on?

Further my queston: Like I heard in Iraqi Freedom that they rescued some prisoners, like they were experts in CQB. Not special forces, like Rangers, but regular Marines.
