Rape Charges Dismissed Because Investigation Could Have Been Seen As Racist

Well, here's the latest example of how political correctness is more important than justice today. The Telegraphis reporting that 2 years ago a white woman put forward an allegation that she was raped by an officer from the Metropolitan Police. This officer happened to be of a minority race (not sure which). There is a very detailed proceedure to be followed by the officers of the Metropolitan Police when one of their own is charged with such a crime. An interview is supposed to be held with the accused before any decision to press charges or not is made. However, the police were "walking on eggshells" as a result of the Macpherson Report, published in 1999, which said that the force was "institutionally racist". These allegations were made a week later.

It was decided that the charges should be dismissed not because there was no substance to the claims, but because the police department was worried the officer would accuse them of being racist.

That could be a possible explanation, but the timing and press releases cause me to doubt that. The police department had just been slammed for being racist the week before, and was in the process of fending off all kinds of racial accusations. Then this minority cop gets accused of a heinous crime, and they brush it under the table.

so what you suggest ? not having police at all ? or have police officers with no weapons ? shooting a thief, rapist or murderer...is not murder ...its self defense ...or protection.

now on this case, it does seeem the proble is BOT. not only the accused is a police officer, but he is probably black too... and on these days match

black + poilce office = untouchable

That is not really true, sorry you feel that way. No profession is exempt from bad apples but it does not mean the whole bunch is rotten.

It is a shame that a crime as serious as rape was not properly investigated. Rape victims have a tough enough time discussing and pursuing charges as it is much less to now have to worry about the race of their attacker.
