Are Downing Street memos real

Are the highly publicized Downing Street memos authentic government documents that show the Bush administration lied about pre-war intelligence on weapons of mass destruction?

Or are they part of an elaborate hoax – akin to CBS's infamous National Guard memos on George W. Bush's military service?

Many of the same blogs that successfully challenged Dan Rather's documents are now questioning whether the Downing Street memos are for real.

so are they real or not, does anyone have a good source or link on this subject? its all starting to look suspect to me

They're real.
There are some sites who claim the documents aren't real and that he destroyed the originals. He says he did not destroy the originals, he returned the originals to the source and destroyed the photocopies that he had made after transcribing them.

Ok thanks I'll read your link I still think a lot of this stuff all seems supect to me, but I have an open mind.
