January 17, 2003 A gunboat on a routine patrol off the north Gaza coast spotted a suspicious craft sailing in a restricted area. When it ignored warnings to halt, the crew shot at it, causing it to blow up. The craft had been rigged with explosives.
November 23, 2002 A naval command post in the Gaza Strip spotted a Palestinian fishing craft in a restricted area in Israel's territorial waters. A navy gunboat was sent to inspect the boat; its crew ignored calls to halt and blew up near the gunboat, wounding three navy sailors.
