Hi my first post, may offend some.

But i feel its being under reported , those who know or have lost loved ones can easily match the names to the list.

then we can end the guessing game once and for all

To be completely honest, and this is just my speculation, I don't believe the death toll is being under reported. The modern squad based tactics of urban combat keep potential casualties to a minimum, coupled with the advanced training and equipment our troops use it's easy to believe the relatively low numbers. The enemy combatants are poorly trained and poorly armed in relation, many returning troops describe arabic tactics as "Spray and pray", that is, they unload their clip and hope Allah guides the bullets.

Every death is an avoidable tragedy but we are no longer in the days when we send waves of soldiers at machine gun nests. In Iraq combat is localized and generally constituting a small number of combatants. Many of the succesful Muslim attacks consist of car or truck bombings, land mines, and RPGs. I may be a bit biased but I believe one four man fire team can take out many times it's number in enemy combatants. Case in point, the incident in Mogadeeshu as portrayed in Black Hawk Down, a few fire teams (all be it Delta Force) managed to not only survive but eliminate a large number of enemies while under constant attack from the entire city. Granted, the Delta Force teams lost a few members, but each proved himself worth 50 enemies in return.

People need to have more faith in our troops

The deaths that go unreported most often, if not exclusively, are those of military contractors, especially security. They never get added to the official totals, and the companies are under no obligation to be forthcoming about those numbers.

There are unreported deaths, but I think you're looking in the wrong direction for them.

Oh, and good thought on reducing that list, but if you want the link to show up, you have to include the http
