Magic Stick

The was once a man that had this "magic stick" and he could pick up massive objects. He built massive structures on his property using this "magic Stick." He would not show how it was done or demonstate for adults. He would only do it for children because he said there minds were innocent and pure. Does anyone know what I am talking about? I want to read up on this guy but I dont know who he is or was. He might have been from florida but Im not sure. I remember he lived close to the ocean.
