Bush in hot hot water over the Downing Street memo, its about time!

Part of the problem here in America is the journalists are no longer asking the tough questions and their reporting is joke. Their reporting reflects what the corporate owners of the media want them to say. All of our major news outlets are owned by corporations many making money off of this war. And most American just don't care to know the real truth, even when told they are being fed a line of propaganda they still argue even after getting proof, they still deny it.

Well finally there is going to be a congressional hearings on this and it still is not in the news. Over a half a million people have signed a letter requesting the President respond, I think the link is here in this thread if anyone wants to sign, I already have.
I personally think it is real and that he should be impeached but that is just my opinion, but the one thing that should concern us all whether we agree on that or not is the lack of coverage on this in the states it is all over the internet and also has been in the British press for a month. The downing street memo is equal to a white house memo being leaked. Has anyone saw anything about this congressional hearing being scheduled in any of the other major news outlets or any news on the downing street memo?

Conyers to Hold Hearings on Downing Street Memo
Congressmember John Conyers of Michigan has announced that as the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, he has scheduled hearings on the so-called Downing Street Memo and what Conyers calls the administration's "efforts to cook the books on pre-war intelligence." The hearing is scheduled for June 16. Conyers also says that he plans to introduce new documents that back up the accuracy of the Downing Streets memo, which is actually the classified minutes of a July 2002 meeting of Tony Blair and his senior advisers. The minutes paint a picture of an administration that had already committed to attacking Iraq, was manipulating intelligence and had already begun bombing Iraq to prepare for the ground invasion. This was almost a year before the actual invasion officially began. In a statement released yesterday, Conyers said next Thursday's hearing will attempt to answer what he calls "serious constitutional questions raised by these revelations." Among those scheduled to testify are former US ambassador to Iraq Joe Wilson, former CIA analyst Ray McGovern, Cindy Sheehan, who lost her son in Iraq and attorney John Bonifaz, who has been calling for Bush's impeachment. Conyers says that immediately following the hearings, he will deliver a petition to the White House signed by over half a million people. The petition demands that President Bush answer questions about his secret plan for the Iraq invasion.

Hahah, the thing I really like best about this memo is it's official confirmation of what every person with more than two brain cells knew from the start: The war was planned far in advance and the casus belli manufactured.

When will the Bush Administration stop ducking questions about the Downing Street Minutes. No one in the Bush adminisration has disputed the Memos authenticity but are not answering the questions regarding this either. The way I see it is the Administrations refusal to acknowlege the minutes, is an admission of guilt.

And to make matters worst, the fact that the media is more focused on a missing girl in Aruba than the DSM which inevitably has effected the lives of millions. IT"S TIME WE GET ANSWERS!!!!

Both were the brainchild of none other than Dick Cheney. Bush is the mouthpiece. They are both guilty of TREASON and should both be impeached then imprisoned.

Please take a few minutes to watch this program that aired on CBC-TV's the fifth estate last fall just prior to the election. Very informative on just how much influence Dick Cheney has had in the past, then while working for Halliburton and especially now as vice-president (and he is still receiving deferred compensation from Halliburton!!! Conflict of interest???? ) Man, he is one scary and powerful dude.

Maybe the new Guantanamo can house all these criminals when they are brought to justice. And they'll have to have separate female quarters for Condi Rice too.

You know, i think for most intelligent free thinking people the Bush Administration, and the GOP have lost any shread of accountability that it has gotten to the point no one trusts them. THe GOP will take an extreme stance and wonjt back down til there is no other option, and often they will succed because the Democrats are having a hard time growing thier backbone to stand up to them.

The DSM shows that Bush was lying to the public for over a year about not invading Iraq. I agree Saddam was a bad person and need to have been taken out. But some things come at too high a cost to make it worthwhile

You'd think, that with the false Nigerian Uranium papers, the DSM, and all the documented, videotaped testimony by Powell at the UN, that someone in Congress could get an airtight case of impeachment against Bush and multiple members of his administration. Maybe God can miracle some spine into our lawmakers and this will happen, but I won't hold my breath.

I recently heard that in a poll done 42% thought Bush should be impeached if the downing street memo proves true and accurate and of that 25 % of those were republicans. For more on those numbers divided up by areas of the country go here

I so agree if Bush gets impeached it will surprise me. I have heard though that a few republicans have said they would vote for an impeachment if it proved true.

win the people over as we can... teach them...

then when only 1 out of 10 people look at you funny when you say "our president should be impeached" it will be time to hit with the impeachment talks...

The problem is this, with Clinton thats all you heard, day after day, story after story was about Clinton, they focused on Whitewater forever when
that did not work they went after him on the Lewinski matter. Now with Bush the media handles him with kid gloves, they report just enough to make the sheep think they are getting the truth and they also want them to keep on believing the liberal media crap, so they report it and usually only part of the story. Then its dropped. Take this downing street memo it was all over the British papers for a long time and I doubt we would have even heard about it had it not been for the hearings.

The media is owned by corporations controlled by republicans, its a joke to know this and hear the sheep bleat liberal media. Clinton was a liberal, where was the so called liberal media, liberal loving press when they were after him? They the press was nailing his hide to the wall, at least they tried to. Clinton was supposed to have lied about an affair, Bush on the other hand is being accused of lying to start a war costing American and Iraqi civilian lives and Coalition members lives and the press barely mentions the memo that is supposed to be the evidence, so much for the biggest lie of all, the liberal media.
