Brown Water Navy?

Does the US need a brown water navy? WHat would if be like and what future brown water navy look like?

american meaning- small patrol boats/river craft and coast guard boats.

rest of the world meaning- a navy that patrols with in range of the countries airforce. used for guarding coastline and not really force power projection.

The USA already has a "brown water" navy. Its called the "Coast Guard", ever hear of it?

Yeah sad most people don't know that the U.S. Coast Guard is a branch of the U.S. military and in time of war reports to the Department of the Navy.
