It is all the parents fault that the war in Iraq is still going on.

Dear all,

I do not know if this has been done before but I thought I would post it just incase.

"Two years into the war in Iraq, as the Army and Marines struggle to refill their ranks, parents have become boulders of opposition that recruiters cannot move.

Mothers and fathers around the country said they were terrified that their children would have to be killed - or kill - in a war that many see as unnecessary and without end.

Around the dinner table, many parents said, they are discouraging their children from serving.

At schools, they are insisting that recruiters be kept away, incensed at the access that they have to adolescents easily dazzled by incentive packages and flashy equipment.

A Department of Defense survey last November, the latest, shows that only 25 percent of parents would recommend military service to their children, down from 42 percent in August 2003."

do u mean that the parents should have done more to discourage their children from joining the military service?

or do u mean they shouldnt have discourage their kids from military service and we had more troops and secure more areas of Iraq? and allowed the Iraqi forces more time to prepare instead of having to hide their faces, and later on from being spotted while getting home to their families without getting killed.

You would assume that if the president were to make the decision to go to war, if it were in fact justified, more people in america would support it. However, it is because of the unpopularity of this particular war, that is forcing the parents to act this way. The parents just don't want to see thier children become a statistic, fighting this seemingly endless war on terror. Can you blame them, after all by that time they have spent 18 years telling thier children that war and fighting are no the answer, and they don't want to see thier child go fight for something stupid.

There were no weapons, the talliban was the onlly original target. Sadaam was just an afterthougt.

The nature of a war is when the citizens feel strongly enough that they see no other option besides war. Then they agree to fight for thier country. Never have I seen a nation so divided, than our nation during this war time. What is it that America has to fight for in the middle east? Sand? People? If they don't care about you, what makes you think they care about the Iraqui citizens, they don't, but they use it to attack your compassion and use guilt against you.

The "freedom" of the Iraqui people? While we lose our freedom through things like the patriot act. This government knows nothing about freedom, so how come we can justify "freeing" the iraqui people? They definitely aren't free right now, in fact they are living in an elevated state of risk and fear. Just like us at home.

The Iraq war is a slap to the face, courtesy America. Insurgency will not end, Iraq is just the beginning. Prtect your sons, and your daughters, form this beast-war-machine government.

When/if your son/daughter dies I can guarantee you that the U.S. government doesn't care, it cannot feel, and it makes each individual soldier into nothing. It literally makes them feel like less of a person, and that they have something to prove, it is how they brainwash you once you enter the millitary.

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

Having had an excellent experience in the military, war and all, I used to encourage young people to consider the military either before or after college.

Oh how things have changed. Back when I did that I trusted that our leadership would do right by them. Everything I've seen since 2001 has contradicted that notion. I now DISCOURAGE young people away from service.

If the government's gonna lie through their teeth and skimp on our troops, than that is what they deserve. Perhaps those who lied to the American people want to suit their own children up for iraq duty?

I won't hold my breath.

ECK,

I find your comments to be very revealing as to the conduct of the current conflict compared to previous ones.

Based on their actions and agenda, I find today's civilian leadership at the Pentagon to be beyond corrupt and their lackeys in the military seem completely spineless.

I have the highest respect for those CIA analysts and military leaders who resigned in protest. Hey - did you guys even know there was such a thing? You wouldn't know it from the mainstream media.

I once had the highest respect for Colin Powell. After he gave his grand dog & pony show at the UN instead of resigning, I now have absolutely no respect him. Because of his popularity, he could've made a huge difference in what went down. But, instead, he chose to serve his masters in corruption over the American people and our service men and women.
