Maybe its time we lock these people up.....that includes the ACLU and Newsweek.

Their stories are putting our soldiers lives in danger and its high time we lock them up for sedition. A country cannot survive with treachery at this level....

You're being sarcastic, right?

Please tell me that's sarcasm, and not a serious post?!

Cos dang...if it's not...perhaps the people who need to be locked up are those who are guilty of the treachery, yes - including the soldiers committing the abuse, the commanding officers authorising or condoning the abuse, and the higher-ups in the US government who are contravening so many international laws that it's hard to count.

It was sarcastic...right?

Im dead serious.

No modern country can long survive with a treacherous media stabbing their hero's in the back.....Publishing lies and making "Gulag" statements to poison our war effort. Its exactly like the guy who screams "fire" in a crowded theater....its freedom of speech, but the trampled people might have a different opinion.

I have news that may make you happy.....America might just lose this war against radical Islam. Our Sick Degenerate Media has forced our soldiers to fight with one hand tied behind their back and their at a dis-advantage. Our combat soldiers have been turned into policeman....having to fight an unseen enemy useing the same rules as the Boston PD. You can't win a war like that.....it goes on and on.

So yeah, some folk in America need to be locked up.....there is a line between Treason and Free speech.

You mean the war you guys started? Assuming an actual war did exist. This was created by the American government, American soliders are dying in a forign land and the American people have the only vioce to stop it. Islam isn't the problem, and the extermists within the group are no different than the extermists in the christian right. However, the christian extermists have to be dealt with by the christians and the islamic extermists must be dealt with by islam. Fair, equality - what you would expect. Doing undo others, and all that nice stuff.

The only consolence I have is that your fear betrays the little child you are inside.

There doesn't exist today, nor did there at anytime, anyone in Iraq that was a threat to anyone in America UNTIL America went there. Now you get what you want, and you are crying that people can see your simple blood lust. Sad, very sad. IMO.

How right you are. We're all letting religious extremists dictate our lives and I'm sick of it. We have all been dragged into a holy war in which Islamic, Jewish, and Christian nutcases (throw in a few filthy rich and getting richer bastards) are calling all the shots and using the actions of the opposing extreme religious nutcase's side to frighten those who are not extreme into thinking their god and religion is under attack.

And thus it has ever been. When we stop playing games on who has the tougher invisible friend, maybe we can start to actually listen to one another. This is a big planet, and it isn't the interests of the majority to wage war. It is only in the interest of the market.

Mammon is truly an evil best.

You can turn off your attack machine Passer by...Im just stating my opinion. Your reaction would have done a NYU journalism professor proud. Its Odd how independant conservatives are so quickly labled as "Christians"....well Im just an average Joe who wants my country to win the war against radical islam.

No way should all free speech be illegal, but when the Newsweek knowingly publishes Lies that start riots and endangers our soldiers, AI comes out on the side of the Scum at Guantanimo and the ACLU is sueing for legal representation for prisoners at GB...its time to lock some people up in prison or the crazy house.....folk like this have lost all sense of reality.

Bush came out in response to this pseudo apology with his own comments, saying Amnesty International wasn't quite like Pravda:

"Pravda was the official organ of the Soviet communist party," said Mr. Bush, "Masquerading as a legitimate news organization, Pravda made false and outlandish claims against America to advance the cause of global communism and to give aid and comfort to our enemies. Let's be clear: Amnesty International is not precisely like Pravda. There are some differences between Pravda and Amnesty that would likely come to mind if you sat down and thought about it for a spell."

I thought you were a "Christian"
And we can't physically win a war against beliefs, we can only help those who try and make moderate muslims believe as they do by being the evil monsters they say we are. This is a rolling snowball that will continue to grow.

Lies? But the government admitted there have been abuses of the quran, so it turns out they published the truth and were forced to retract it. The only part of the story that was not "proven" was that they flushed the quran, which is not a big deal in my eyes because it's just a bunch of paper with somebody's version of a fairy tale, like the bible.

AI comes out on the side of the Scum at Guantanimo

How are they on anybody's side? Just because the U.S. was not held on high by them in a report doesn't mean they are on the scum at Gitmos side, they are actually being fair just like when they criticize China or Cuba, what a concept.

and the ACLU is sueing for legal representation for prisoners at GB

I'm all for that, there are innocent people being held indefinitely at Gitmo, if your son were in the wrong place at the wrong time and was being held there and you were unable to have any contact with him whatsoever, your tune would change 100%.

its time to lock some people up in prison or the crazy house.....folk like this have lost all sense of reality.

Too bad there's not gonna be any room, all our prisons will be full of sick people who like to smoke a joint now and again to feel better. This government is out of control and needs to be stopped, one way or the other.

Odd that when AI comments on China and/or Iraq, Bush and Co are supportive of the statements and reports....and yet when the same criteria are applied to the US, suddenly AI are the bad guys who are "fueling the fire".

I suppose if someone doesn't agree with the government, or actually agrees with criticism of same, that'd make them anti-American, right?

Perish the thought.

No. But if a group secures the release of a terrorist known to have
9/11 ties - a terrorist by the name of Ahmed Hikmat Shakir - simply
because he planned an attack against America - then YES that
group is anti-American. Oh gee ... that's EXACTLY what Amnesty
International did! They came running to the defense of terorrist
and 9/11 co-conspirator Ahmed Hikmat Shakir, because he attacked
America and Amnesty LOOOOOOOOOOOVED it!

Amnesty actually pushed for humane rights and fair treatment; not because the guy was linked to 9/11 and/or other attacks. They do this for virtually every prisoner who is being held in such a manner.

Unless of course you have evidence that they did so solely because he had such links? Or evidence perhaps that AI have an Anti-America agenda? All we can see really, if we're being objective, is that sometimes we don't approve or agree with the people AI are fighting for.

It's a humanity issue - not an Anti-America issue.

(edit for spelling. Woot)

Apparently, Amnesty International pursued the correct strategy in using such strong language and by not backing down. Bush and Rumsfeld are clearly on the defensive about what is going on at Gitmo.

The fact that there is even a public flirtation with the idea of closing the camp is solely due to the AI report. If Amnesty International is such a BS organization, how do you suppose they managed to get Bush and Rummy, the biggest bullies on the planet, to back off on their attack and consider other options?

I doubt we will see a closing of Guantanomo anytime soon nor torture policies to change, but the point is that it's a week later and the phrase "gulag of our time" is still ringing in Bush's ears. The charges have stuck, and rightfully so.

The United States would rather have detainees at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp imprisoned by their home countries, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said Thursday.

Rumsfeld spoke a day after saying he was unaware of anyone in the Bush administration discussing closing the prison in Cuba.

Hours later, President George W. Bush refused to rule out shutting the facility, saying his administration was "exploring all alternatives" for detaining the prisoners.

Human rights groups and former detainees say prisoners at Guantanamo have been mistreated.

Yup.

And also - AI was deemed all fine and well when Bush was utilising their reports on human rights issues as a reason to go into Iraq and condemn other nations for violations.

They would never publish lies knowingly. It is bad for business, its bad for their credibility, and journalists usually have this ethical code in which they place their personal credibility on the line when they publish a story. It wasn't on purpose, and you are ignorant for thinking so.

Not all of the people at Gitmo have been proven guilty, or even CHARGED yet, which means they aren't all scum. It could just have easily been you in there if you had darker skin or were born in the Middle-East. It seems like YOU are the one who has lost his sense of reality, because you consistantly reject common sense and the facts of the matter...

Exactly,

I provided plenty of actual quotes from Donald Rumsfeld himself, typical stuff blabbing on about AI on the first page of this thread. All is good, until you cross the threshold of being against us regarding this BS administration.

That's what we want, we want the terrorist at Gitmo to go back to the custody of their original country but would you know it AI and the prisoners themselves don't what that because Gitmo is a country club compared to what their own countries would do to them. They can’t have it both ways.
