"Declassified Documents Show Excessive Secrecy,
Arbitrary and Subjective Classification Decisions,
"Icons" and "Secrets of Convenience"
Rather than Real Protection of National Security"
This is a great article about the problems with our FOIA, and how or why things get classified. Heres some teasers/quotes;
"so classified that even Congress lacks detailed information about it."
"U.S. government deployed the Jupiter missiles that John F. Kennedy "traded" as part of the Cuban missile crisis settlement."
"details that if released, "might invite nontrivial public criticism of policies, endeavors, or officials." "
As if it didn't happen or isn't.
