Losing Sleep

For the past week I haven't been getting much sleep, and I can't really explain why.

When i'm laying on my back and on the brink of falling asleep I hear a noise in my head. It sounds like a pop, or a beep. It wakes me up instantly. It's kind of like the noise you get if you were to cup your hand and smack your ear, if you know what i'm talking about. I can't explain it any other way. It doesn't happen if I were to fall asleep on my stomach or side, but I guess I move alot when I sleep because I always wake up to the noise laying on my back. It's been happening at least a couple times a night.

It reminds me of the "pop" that some people hear before they AP. Is it possible I could be at the stage right before an astral projection or an OOBE but my mind won't let me get to that level?

I don't hear voices, i'm as sane and healthy as the next man, so it's nothing like that.

The reason I put it in this section is ever since I've been interested in meditation, AP, third eye, etc., i've been trying different techniques and some things have been going on that I can't explain.

This type of thing sound familiar to anyone?

Sorry, but I can't help with this problem. I've never heard of anything like this before.

I think If I were you, I would contact a doctor and get a good physical exam.

Let us know if you find out what it is.....i'm curious to know the outcome.

Sounds familiar to me......on two occasions I was snapped back into conscious reality after drifting off by what sounded like a firecracker sound right on my eardrum......not pleasant..........have you had any other strange experiences?

Also.........if you find you can't sleep, the best answer is to begin an activity until you are tired enough to sleep.....even if you have a big day following.......no use tossing and turning......the body is resilient and can survive a night or to of little sleep.......

I get physical exams all the time, every 6 months. Like I said i'm as healthy as the next man.

Strange things have been going on since I realized that there is more out there than what I have been taught, or brought up to think; on a spiritual level. I see things different in all aspects of life now. I know it's not my brain messing with me neither because I didn't expect it.

Kind of like if you really believe eating a doughnut will take your pain away it just might. . . you know what i'm talking about

At first ...I was a bit worried by three things
1. the fact that by your handle you are in Jersey (so am I)
2. losing sleep (so am I)
3. being woken up just before fully sleeping by an odd noise...weird..me too.

But then I remember when I would practice astral projection regularly, that this sort of SNAP CRACK attack would happen. Its normal, and is somewhat related to the hallucinations one gets from sleep paralysis, but a little different.

Audible Hallucinations are more frequent when you don't get enough sleep, same with visual ones.

I just experienced this a few days, and haven't been able to get to bed before dawn since, the sound of morning rush hour(s) because like a white noise over the "whats that in the dark" silence of my usual 2AM crash time.

Now that you have embarked on a path of knowledge that was not commonplace for you before, you will have a number of odd experiences. The madness of the wise perhaps?
But I've seen it before, seekers into new realms of consciousness (to them) all experience weirdness, some will call them ghosts, and some of the nuts around here think they are demons, others will say its aliens....I will tell you the truth, its all part of the process, totally normal, like muscle aches and working out.

If you are attempting to AP before you sleep: don't.
I've had instances where AP = full energy recover = no sleep for 32 hours or so.
The body/mind may be charged to full power but eventually the lack of shutdown time brings on the hallucinations and other unwanted side effects.

That is why ritual is important.
The most common ritual: take a leak, wash hands, brush teeth, sleep.
You simply need to adapt your normal rtiual to doing you AP work an hour or so before you intend to sleep, write you experience in a journal, and then go nod off normally. Do not AP in bed, as when you crawl into bed your body will think: Hey its time to go mind walking! instead of "Hey its time to shut down!" Separate your AP and your sleep rituals.
