I was thinking, this site talks about a lot of stuff that the goverment wouldnt allow in normal media press corps or wouldnt like the people to know about it.

I think the keep an eye on us, is just a guess, but ATS has 2400 members, is very possible to have 10 people for example checking the info we talk about and stuff like that, there are a lot of members that are posting 1 message each month or something like that, most of them are reading, maybe there is a half of the ATS community that are active, but the rest are like corpses...
I dont know, but i wanted to know if u guys think that is possible, or even that is a fact...

Do you think that here in ATS there is Intelligence agencies checking ?

I can't see them taking an active role in checking what's written here, but I've been led to believe we certainly have government agency staff who are members here at ATS - just because they enjoy the threads, not because they're actively trying to monitor the board.

I think the government agents have better stuff to do than sit on the PC the whole day and lurk at conspiracy boards. We were discussing that on this threat you can check it out:

It was the original quote by William I was referring to but I couldn't locate it. I'd agree SP - I'd like to think our government agencies have better things to be doing than surf the web!

I don't see why not. "They" may not be here to "see" what is being said, per se', but maybe here to establish just what "we" do know......or here to provide a bit of disinformation when required.

Its a known fact that the "government" pays people to do a wide variety of mundane things.....and I mean "mundane"......
I'm not saying they have a 24 hour "eye" here, but to think "they" come here for mere pleasure and entertainment of the wide variety of topics, is a bit haphazard at best. Again, they, he, she, it may not be seeking to report us or such but maybe to see what we actually know....through findings, etc. The government does maintain a "policy of denial/disinformation." A site such as this, would provide such an avenue. All it takes is one bit of dis-information to cause many to think or deter many from whats obvious, etc.

To dismiss the possibility is to dismiss alot.... Put nothing beyond the "ways and means" of the government.

There was once a time when I almost signed up with the gov. to do just that kind of thing...

Granted, they won't be frequent posters, and they'll be members of LOTS of such sites as these... Face it, they'd be stupid not to... It's quite easy to have someone come in everyday, and simply monitor various "conspiracy" message boards and chat rooms. Not all of course, but certainly the more prolific ones...

Well i think there is a lot of stuff here that would be harmful for them actually, if we could speak loud to the people tomorrow we would get a revolution,

Dont forget what Henry Ford said once:
"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning."

Internet was created by the DoD do not forget that, and our dears Carnivore Echelon and more "suckers of info" all over the net, keywords will pump up...

I know the check the net, is the biggest communication system in the wolrd, and they invented it, i know they are watching us...

I think this goes without saying. Without a doubt particularly when you consider (as you rightly mentioned) that the DoD created the net (ARPAnet - not quite the internet as we know it but close enough)

I just meant that I can't really envisage row upon row of desks full of analysts paid to surf chat forums and websites!
But hey.... you never know!

Keep in mind some things:

1) Yes, I know of at least 3 "insiders" who come here... but not out of a need to track, but out of a personal interest in the topics we discuss.

2) The "Internet" is much more than a "communications medium" and the distributed nature of TCP/IP packet transmission makes it impossible to track an individual IP's communications without slave system dedicated to the IP attached to that IP's service provider.

3) The genie is out and can't be put back. This "digital revolution" is empowering normal people to learn and speak out.

who needs to be a member when u can be a hacker lol, not that i think they care about too much of the stuff we talk about cuz it's keepin us from stopping them so they're likely happy we're all sitting on our asses instead of trying to do sumtin about this junk

Conspiracy theorists/theories can be dangerous to the government, this site is the perfect place to find anti-government citizens, it would be really stupid not to keep tabs on suspicious, dangerous internet users. They probably use sites like these to single out ip addresses to hack and check.

After Timothy McVeigh, it must be a priority.

The government probably get the kid hackers to do that stuff for them.

Can you perhaps tell us how they would gain the IP of our users?

Well...

The only way I can think of doing that is hacking into the site. Giving themselves moderator powers and checking the IPs that way.

But of course William is too good to let that happen...

...and that's why we have hackers on this site putting up threats.

I know that in my country they have special organisations that monitors certain websites permanently. I know about it because a popular local website made a statement about it when they got warned for not removing certain replies of posters.

I would have to say "YES" for a few reasons. First, believe it or not, some government employee is getting paid to keep tabs on sites like this one. And from the point of view of the government I would think that makes good sense to monitor sites such as this one. After all, we don't miss a trick on this site. A lot of information is passed or talked about here on ATS. And some of that info is "Very Sensitive" in nature, maybe sort of a sore spot to someone :-).

I have wondered from time to time if ""some"" of the " debunkers" are working for the government to undermine anything they deem to be to close to the truth, after all, you can make just about anything seem faked or false if you know how to do that. If a "real" UFO landed in my back yard and I took a few pictures of it and showed you all the pictures of a "chrome" looking "disc" just sitting in my yard, most of you would say bull, even it it was the "real thing". So it would seem to me, someone's long term plan is working very well LOL.

Next, computers and internet connect the world to the world and even more so, they connect Jack in PA (USA) to Fred in England!!! Would you not think that this relatively new technology has it down sides for people whom are in the biz of keeping secrets. We are no longer stuck in our own back yard folks :-) Most likely, it's someone's nightmare LOL.

I guess I would have to say, watch out for people who say "No" to the question asked in this topic. LOL

And, I do hope they are enjoying this site as much as I do :-)

well, if they are hiring people to sit around in chat rooms and on message boards and get paid for it, I am their dream candidate!
where do I sign up?

maybe not so much hackers as people who sit on lines and collect packets, you'd be surprised how many hackers there are, i used to be in the warez scene pretty far down and there are a crapload of hackers, information is easy to get, all they need is a file created by a microsoft application, that'll give thme any information you've put on your computer, isn't microsoft nice for doing that, unless it's a text file taht is cuz then the extra size would be noticeable hahaha
