Both strategy formats have their merits, turn based are often seen as more thinking games where you can spend longer thinking on a issue/problem, RTS
strategy games often require quick thinking where a really bad choice can mess up your nation/city/etc.
I current play Rome: Total War which is pretty swish (its a turn based) and does require thinking, do i focus on the economy but get conquered by a
military nation..or do i focus on military and find i can't afford to support the troops.
I guess rather than look at the strategy format its best to look at the quality of game first.
