Are these a couple of blackbirds i picked up on google maps

when where these shots taken of the SR-71's?

Good spotting. I'm going to do a little bit of looking in that Keyhole Earthviewer program and see what I can find. If there is anything worth posting I will.

Edit: I was looking around Edwards AFB and came across these. Can anyone tell what these are? I was never good at these satellite ones and they look powerful.

Meh, here's a whole flock of Blackbirds.


Also remember, some of those out in public on display are YF-12's.

Also, if you move south some and just a little bit west, you will come across a couple of F-22's and several F-16's even further south. Still farther south, you will run into many helicopters and either F-15's or more F-16's (I can't quite tell).

Army: That picture reminds me of a dream I once had; I was in Heaven.

Wow, this base is huge, and if you keep following the runways, you will come to many other places with several planes on them.

Dammmn. I didn't even know that we had that many Blackbirds as the amount that's in Army's picture. They are mega expensive, but seeing them all at one time in a single place is just amazing.

Um, move a little west... Are those lines dug into the ground? You have to be pretty high up to make sense of them, don't you think? And I think a blackbird goes too fast to read that

Yep... that's Edwards and those are SRs...

I was stationed there in flight test for quite a while in the late 90s...

That's the Dryden end of the flight line with Contractor's Row down to the South...

The building that my office was in, 1820, is the one with two white roofs and a brown one in the middle... That's currently the home of the Joint Strike Fighter CTF... The hangar on the left, the first white roof, housed an SR along with a mobile command post... The building across the ramp housed a Deuce...

As you zoom out you can see the compass rose on the lake bed along with the lake bed runways... Runway 24 rolls right onto the ramp in front of Contractor's Row...

The lake bed spin area is right there, as well...

Near the extreme northern end of the lake bed you can see the runway at North Base... That's where much of the black stuff is... Every time I would land there I'd be met by two SPs with M16s... They would escort us everywhere we went...

Edwards is a great place and I did some of my best and most enjoyable flying there...
