hypocritical AMERICA

I think its shocking the way AMERICA is treating its soilders in regards to the abu grahib scandal.

HOW BLOODY HYPOCRITICAL!

Imagine im a US Soilder,

Walk around a bit, shoot some iraqi's... sorry insurgents, bomb a few civilians, and i get to go to my bed at night and sleep tight knowing tommorow i was going to do more of the same..

BUT strike me down should i take photographs, or pose with some dead/imprisonerd IRAQI's, thats clearly very very bad, and for that i should be punished.

Ok, both scenario's are bad, and really i dont agree with,
but for instance,
this younge american soilder, who's only experience was managing a Pizza shop, was put in charge with no training or what not of abu grahib.

Because s**T went bad, they are going to be prosecuted.

What happened to the ' its a warzone '

Its obvious that in AMERICA, unless you prepared to do WHAT the army wants, and be prepared to be convicted of it, you best not join the military.

I can see why so many are going AWOL, or deciding to shoot up some liquor store and some cops on the way.

Just wait till these guys return home, with all their mental problems, there emotional scars, the ' thrill of the kill ' still pumping through their veins.

They posed them nude ffs, they scared them a little, they didnt kill them ffs, (they should have) hell everything that happened in that prison is perfectly legal in the states its called gay porn/s&m...

In that same situation, with insurgent guards and americans what would have happened? oh yeah thats right theyd hack there friggin heads of with a knife then display it proudly infront of a camera to be broadcasted on aljazera the next day.

Murder is legal?


Anyway. I have mentioned before on this site that I want the country I live in, the United States of America, to give up the lies and pretension about defending itself and foreigners and simply state the real reasons for the current wars. Since no accountability is going to happen, why not just give up the lies? They serve no purpose at this point because much of the populace is going along with it now knowing full well that the invasion and occupation of Iraq was based upon fabrications.

In the last several days we've had the Downing Street memo from 2002 prove that Bush and Blair knew that there was no reason to invade Iraq and that diplomacy was out of the question. Plus the navy trial where the prosecuting attorney proved that the Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, and Iraq wars were illegal. This prosecutor was trying to get a soldier convicted for refusing to be sent to Iraq and he did this anyway to try to set an example against other soldiers and failed.

I want the hypocrisy to end. I don't think anything can be done about it at this point. Our governments are too powerful militarily to overcome. I just would like to live without the lies and seeing my own family and friends suckered by them. Some people, especially Iraqis and Afghans, but also U.S. citizens and other countries have lost sons and daughters over these lies or had their lives forever altered by maiming.

I often disagree with you global but on this point i agree 100%. The government treats people who give everything for this country like crap.
They are PROSECUTING people for fighting in iraq. that is the most hypocritical as the government invaded on a whim and no one in our government will face accounability, so they make the soldiers accountable?
why because they pull the trigger? it was the governments signed order that authorized military intervention in iraq.:shk: I did not know the war in yugoslavia was thought to be illegal, hell i figured since it was under clinton it would be praised.

The reason why these people are being prosecuted is because the way they behaved is wrong... Just because some people behave like idiots does not make it ok for you to do the same... Most people learn these basic principles as a child!!!

So just because something has been done in the past it makes it OK to do it now? I'm not even gonna waste my time going into how backward that kind of thinking is.

The soldiers getting prosecuted for the Abu Ghraib scandal are just scapegoats. It's classic government shifting of blame. The only goal here is to take the blame off the government in the public opinion.
If you knew anything about Human sociological behaviour you would know that people will do almost anything if they believe the responsibility is not theirs. In the case of a military situation (I know I've been there) a soldier acting under orders feels the responsibility is the militarys' not theirs (whether it's right or wrong). This has been proved in experiments many times.
I'm not making excuses for these acts, all I'm saying is the government is to blame, ultimately. But as usual they make up the rules as they go and sacrifice one of us to appease their crimes against mankind.

Clearly US Inc sees its own troops as expendable. These guys were operating in a situation / under orders that no-one seems to have sanctioned / issued. They did what they were told to do and get hung out to dry for it.

The fact that they felt comfortable taking pictures shows they thought they had 'cover' for their actions (cf. Breadbasket - same scenario)

Abu Ghraib wasn't an abberation it was Government policy. The convictions are window-dressing and those convicted will do 'soft' time and be released early (and quietly). It may fool (some of) the US public but the Arabs can smell bull**** when it's put in front of them.

No wonder desertion and combat refusals are up - if you can't trust your own Govt. / commanders then why put your life at risk for them?

The guy at the top is responsible for this and should answer for it - Rumsfeld or Bush
