Heres an idea - what if there are escorting missiles for the ballistic warheads , which are designed to engage the incoming ABM shots?

hm.. that doesnt have any use, if the defending country, uses the french ABM system*

*The french idea is, just to start another nuke to the nuke that is flying onto you, and let far enough from your own country explode your nuke in the air, to destroy the enemies nukes that are flying to you

Well if I was the United States I would invest in alot of monitoring for the Oceans. If a drug smuggler from Cuba or Mexico wanted to sneak in an atomic weapon for a foreign power, they would probably be able to get one in with speedboat or land routes. Same thing with Canada. If someone from Canada wanted to sneak an atomic weapon in from Canada there is not a problem for them since the Canadian borders are probably less protected then the Mexican border.

I would DEFINATLY close the border. And really really put alot of effort in protecting from foreign submarines, ships, and really really monitor cargo shipments that come in from overseas.

They need to build floating islands out in the sea that ships must dock at and get searched. Even if it slows traffic by 100%. Because whats the point of searching the ships in the docks in the United States if a terrorist could just detonate it right then and there and destroy the dock and nearby residents.

Floating Islands outside of Nuke range for ship searches, closing the borders, and a whole lot of ocean monitoring. A LOT.

Until then a missile defense shield is a mute point.

Actually thats exactly what the russians use for there own ABM system , and have done for years - whilst the us used the system for a while (nike zeus and thor) but scrapped it in the 70`s (they used a 400kt warhead)

No im talking about a varient of chevaline (which the brits use and the us also have the tech for trident) - where as well as penetration aids , there could be AABM in the warload as well as active jammers
