I would suggest simple light fare as follows, to impress but not overwhelm:

starter

vegetarian filo tart of summer vegetables, mini pear and stilton with gazpacho sauce

followed by

warm wild hare and fig tart, smoked bacon and pickled beetroot

with sides of

feta mushrooms on kumara mash with nam phrik nun dressing

and

lime polenta fries and sumac aioli

For dessert try

praline semifreddo with coconut crumble and berry compote.

Good luck, and enjoy!!

LOL.

Your age should not matter.

It is what you do with the spaghetti that counts.

That meal selection in your initial post is a great on, MaskedAvatar.
I busted out chuckling when I read it, but hey, not many can serve up such a meal, let alone prepare it.

Self-made cook or have you been to chef's school?
I thought about it once, even applied with Johnson & Wales in Norfolk, but merely was wondering.

Young man get yourself some of your mother's cooking books and get her some nice dinner.

Now pasta sound very simple, you can buy the meatballs already made in the frozen section and put them in the sauce as you are warming the spaghetti sauce so you don't have to go through the whole thing of cooking the meat.

Get some mozzarella cheese in a bag and after serving the sauce and meatballs on top of the spaghettis you top it with shredded mozzarella and let it melt.

Get some Texas toast frozen bread with cheese and put it in the oven following the instructions.

Then if you have some extra cash to burn get some sparkling cider and serve it in a glass of wine.

bon appetite.

MaskedAvatar that menu of yours will be something I would love to make my self as an experienced cook.

However, I guess when your married, these type of dinners are part of some romance, fantasy, ficticianal, novel that only make a woman drool and dream of...

There is a lesson in there somewhere. Why create cordon bleu to impress, if you can't do it every night? Heed well, gothica91.

Seekerof, I could prepare this for degustation, but in truth wild hare isn't easy to come by and I would substitute rabbit and embellish a little.

Les gateaux du poisson? Zut alors! Je pense que n'importe quoi servi par mon épouse nue satisfera supremely.

well if you're 13 its better to go for something simple ... spaghetti is a pretty cool idea...i personally love it... you can even had some grilled chicken maybe ??? or some small meatballs... you can buy them at the supermarket and just add them to the spaghetty... Have a good dinner!!!
