I have recently been reading and discussing Albert Pike's Morals and Dogma. Throughout my readings I have come across many seemingly important texts referring to Sohar. While I fully realize that Masonry seperates itself as much as possible from Albert Pike, his ties and the influence he had on the organization it still seems interesting. Does anybody have any information or possible starting places for alternative research on Sohar?

Freemasonry does not try to separate itself from Albert Pike, he was a great mason, but non-masons have the misconception that Pike was a lot more influential in Freemasonry than what he actually was. He wrote a popular book, and he revised some of the rituals for the side degrees of the Southern Jurisdiction of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and he sat on the Scottish Rite's supreme council, but that's pretty much it.

As for Sohar, and Freemasonry's relevance to it, I don't know much. Many of Freemasonry's rituals and symbols have been influenced by Kabbalism, but I don't know how much direct association there is with Sohar.
