Keep in mind, Councilors ALSO give out APPLAUSE....we can applaud moderators even!! They need back pats just like everybody else......

From my perspective I focus on finding the new folks and giving the good postings an applause as a way of cheering them on. I will also applaud members who are trying hard to help out another newer member.....(this is me working toward cheering on HELPING one another within our membership)

Not to say old time members are left out...they are'nt......exceptional posts that make me wanna shout "YES" and clap out loud....are what I deem applause worthy.......

To make a long story short....post well thought out and researched things, backed with good links, and you may find yourself APPLAUDED........
New and old members alike!!

Uh.... I got mine by posting a document I used to buy my friends soul. Doesn't meet any of those criteria. I guess all you have to do is make them laugh so hard that they accidentally click their mouse button over your post and give you the applaud instead of ban, heh.

Yah, it's pretty subjective. It can be for well thought out and researched posts, collaborative efforts, insightful posts, etc., but it can also be for witty, funny posts that lighten the mood

And, it can also be for several posts.
Maybe the one post I click on isn't really that notable, but several replies in the same discussion.
Sometimes, I give applause because a member just say something that hits the nail on the head for me. Just the most approriate thing to post.
I've also given applause to new members who post good things as an incentive to continue with quality posts.
I'll bet there are as many reasons to give applause as there are staff to give them.

Don't FSME give applause, too?
