Not off to a good start

I'll speak for myself here, but the New Year didn't get off to a very good start. I spent most of yesterday, New Years Day, angry.

I woke up to the tragedy in NOLA, and it only went downhill from there. Then Vegas, then all the crazy, conflicting, press conferences, public statements and news reports. Football games getting postponed. Etc.

Sigh.

Let's hope today is better!

Reserve some of that anger because something tells me it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Society is spiraling out of control and I believe we'll see more attacks.

Thanks to an open border, gangs, cartel members and terrorists have flooded into the US and they ain't here to sell Girl Scout cookies.

Seriously, once people figure out a lot of these events are due to the policies of the government, well, the armchair army will be out in force since we aren't allowed to seek redress any more

Shoot, now you got me depressed. I haven't stocked up on popcorn yet, I only have enough for three more batches in stock. If things keep going as they have been, there could be a popcorn shortage in the near future.

Last year was probably the roughest year for me.

Each time I catch myself sulking, I just remember I have a cozier life than 99.9% of humans that ever lived, and I’m sure I’m up there for the current population. That’s not a flex as I live a fairly modest life.

I think the age old adage of count your blessings puts things into perspective for me. I’ve been trying to be more stoic, and less reactionary.

Really at the end of the day, it’s for my own wellbeing. As you noted it’s hard to have a span of time go by where we can’t focus on how chaotic and messed up humanity and the world can be. But if I remember where I’m at, I find grounding.

I would call it a good sign if they would use the 25th amendment on Joe Biden on the 19th and swear in Kamala as president for one day. Get that first female president BS behind us.

All this anger is no good for you.

I understand how you feel. Ive done the same myself at times.

The key is perspective. Its how you see things. Its how you frame it. No one can get inside your head and hurt you with anger. Unseen beings will sure try though.

IE: We saw Trump get shot in the ear. What is the best way to handle a situation like that? What can I do? I cant deal with his situation directly. I can however adjust my reaction to some degree, by how I frame the event in my mind.

Things being out of control can make you angry, depressed and unstable. What to do?

How about this: Reframe it in my own mind as: God is in control! I didnt have to do anything, secret service couldnt do anything. God took care of everything. He did it.

The Living God is not blind. He is not deaf nor dumb. He knows the future.

We are in the middle of a war. Its a battle for the hearts of mankind. The accuser is fighting with all he has. He wants fear, sorrow, depression, hatred, and anger. He wants aggression against others. Dont give him anything.

The 119th congress gets seated tomorrow. Republican control of the house and senate starts tomorrow.

LOL! (love the double entendre there). True none the less, in the literal sense.

Maybe I was speaking more on behalf of others so far less fortunate, and internalizing some of that.

edit - BTW, I celebrated the New Year on Greenland time (UTC-3), which is pretty much standard for me. I was done by 8pm local time.
