Last week I was on I-75 near Detroit going 80 mph when all of a sudden a car with flashing Christmas lights flew by me.

I thought oh fudge, I am busted for 10 over. I do not know what kind of car it was.

Yesterday I was out at Lowe’s in the daytime and a Christmas car parked near me. I asked the owner about the lights and he explained he used about 1400 cuts of electrical tape to tape on 1400 LED Christmas lights.

He has a separate power supply hooked to DC to light up his car.

He told me has been pulled over 7 times for violations of Michigan’s light flashing law. He has 2 tickets and 5 warnings.

I told him I have a 16 year old new driver and I think he would be distracted by your car. The guy looked at me and told me to not have him drive around this time of the year.

They jerk walked away from me. The guy who parked next to me was mad and started ripping off the guys lights! I stayed out of it!

Only in Detroit!
Not the car just a gif.

Stripping and repainting the car will probably cost more than the tickets. Just google all those stories.

Red and blue lights are illeagle on everything but emergency vehicles in most states even if they don't blink. It also doesn't matter if they are off, they are illeagle if installed.

Oh, if the car has an insurance company sticker on the back, send them some photos with the tag to make their day while they drop the coverage for that car and likely the owner.

Edit: I saw one in Georgia. All states have some stupid drivers.

You enjoy telling the authorities on others?
Disgusting behaviour, the guy is enjoying the season, look at the Rudolph horns and nose.
Good little commies will always report people to percieved authority.
I hope snakes get what's due to them plus interest.

So, you support bad driving habbits? Breaking traffic laws and causing a public neucense is not something to be done lightly.

Would you report a drunk driver? Similar bad judgment in both cases.

When is breaking an agreed to contract with an insurance company have anything to do with celebrating Christmas?

You also seem to lack the ability to realize what a threat to life and property is.

Myself, I tend to be more of a Live & Let Live kinda' guy, for this kind of stuff anyway.

Not so much for drunk drivers though.

You should have seen the red and blue light flashing Christmas car that flew by me. I was distracted. I agree with everything in your post!

The whole red / blue cop light thing is silly. If a car is moving faster than you are, then move to the right and let it pass. In Europe, Germany especially, it's not uncommon for faster cars to come up behind you and flash their lights to pass. I did it when driving on the Autobahn. If a car with flashing lights comes up behind you, then just let it pass.

Now, if a car with flashing lights comes up behind you, and tries to pull you over like a law enforcement officer, well, that's completely different. But, as near as I can tell, none of these situations were "impersonation of Law Enforcement" incidents.

So really, the rules of the road still apply. Allow a faster vehicle to pass (in the US on the left, and in the UK on the right). In Germany there are rules about passing on the right, especially on the Nurburgring (which is an unimaginably fun place to drive!).

I've seen little Renault's pass $500k Ferrari's, with drivers who knew the line around the course.

Bottom line...watching what is behind you is important; be it police or another vehicle who is just faster.

JJ...you're a car guy...you know this!

My buddy that lives a couple streets over just did this to his Grand Cherokee. He’s going to have a hell of a time “peeling” that stuff off lol.

The first Lowrider I owned had neon lights inside and out. Got several tickets but I was young and dumb. Now I only put the lights on when stopped or at a show.
