Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said she had stocked up on canned food to last three days in the event of a possible Russian cyberattack.

She urged all Danes to also follow the recommendations of the Danish Emergency Management Agency.

Is she trying to tell us something??

Three days? Is she delusional?

I go shopping every day, We have everything we usually need in stock....everything to make every dish we usually or even occasionally make. But today, the wife wanted to make a bowl of Raman salad and we did not have any Chicken raman...wow, we screwed up. We have beef Raman and organic raman...vegi based, but no chicken flavored....it has to be chicken in the recipe she likes. So I guess we do not have everything after all.

We learned from the last pandemic craziness, we have had stocks of everything for years...but our toilet paper stock was really low. Never in my wildest dreams did I feel there would be a problem with toilet paper and paper towels. So we do not let those stocks get low anymore...it is important to have toilet paper.

So we got about fifty rolls of TP and fifty rolls of Paper towel in stock at all times now. I would say we have maybe eighty rolls of each at this time which is close to full inventory.

The big thing to consider is that China is shutting down lots of factories to spread the factories around the country and to comply with some climate change policies by the West. There will be about a sixty percent reduction over the next few years in their ability to make products for other countries from what I have read. Much higher prices and shortages will occur, so stock up on things you really need that originate from Chinese factories, including stuff that incorporates Chinese parts into their creation here in America....basically all things might have a shortage.

I have been stocking up on things to repair my vehicles and supplies for things to fix plumbing and electrical stuff in the house. Just enough in case something breaks down...not going to get nuts. Doing that to save money, I hate having to run to the hardware store every time something needs fixing. I am anticipating higher prices in the next few years as this transition is done in China. Trumps tariffs will probably be blamed for higher prices, this has nothing to do with that. But the Democrats will say it is all his fault when it is not.

Food will probably not be an issue from China...except maybe water chestnuts of course. Some soy sauces and special oriental food imports might be a little hard to find, but the prices will probably go up. The news on this is vague and it is not on MSM much at all, but there are sources out there that talk about this possible shortage and extra price increases coming our way. Many American factories there in China have already moved to other countries because of this climate change mandate. I would bet a lot of people will be breathing easier there though, I feel sorry that there is so much polution in some of their main cities just to make things we buy. Do some research and read about this, start a thread on it if you can find out more about the effect it will have on us. I have been too busy to research to find specifics on these changes and how it will effect the west.

Oh by the way when I say I go shopping every day, I go shopping in our own store room areas, not to the grocery store. I read after posting and noticed I forgot to put that in. If something runs out, usually I have to go to the pantry or basement to get more off of the shelving units. All food is dated and rotated constantly in our pantries.

The United States recommends having a week or two worth of non-perishables. She's not trying to tell you anything other than be wise.

Just compare the size/land mass of the USA and Denmark. If it can take two weeks for help to arrive in the USA due to its size, this will probably not be the case in Denmark.

Tbh, it is pretty normal that countries have disaster preparedness with advice for their citizens.

This here is the German emergency/catastrophic prevention.

It's like having an emergency fund. If you tell people they need an emergency fund that can pay for 6 months worth of your expenses, most people are like "I can't save that much" so they just don't have any emergency fund at all.

If you tell them have a $500 or $1000 emergency fund, most people can save that over time. Then they realize it's possible and they might save more.

Telling people "keep 2 weeks of non-perishables on hand at all times" is a huge expense. Most people will dismiss it because they think they can't afford to do that or don't have the space. If you tell them to keep 3 days' worth on hand, that sounds much more doable. Once people do that, they may add to that over time.

It's really not all that hard. You don't have to run out and buy 3 days, 3 weeks, or 3 months of food stuffs all at once.

You just create a place to put your stored food, and buy 1 or 2 things every time you go to the store. Put these items in your food cache, and then get a couple more items the next time you go to the store.

Me personally, I try to keep about 2 months worth of food stored, but I didn't go out and buy that in a single trip; I did it over time. The other thing to remember is, you have to rotate through your stored food (i.e. eat it). Otherwise, it goes to waste, and that's just throwing money away. So, you do have to create a bit of a plan ahead of time. Just do a little bit at a time. You'll have a couple weeks built up before you know it. Besides, it doesn't take all that much food. Heck, I could survive for 2-3 days on just a couple cans of beans and some pasta.

It's not a "doomsday" thing, it's just being prepared. We have 1 to 2 occasions per year where we need to draw on our stored supplies. This is usually snow related where we get snowed in and all the roads are blocked. Most of the time though we just wind up eating through our supplies while rotating them out.
