Two high level investigators in the U.N. oil-for-food scandel have resigned today protesting lenient treatment towards Kofi Annan for his role in the
program. The U.N. has been hit hard by the investigation, and many other alleged scandels including sexual misconduct in Congo by peacekeepers and
sexual harassment accusations against a former U.N. refugee chief.

UNITED NATIONS - (AP) - Two senior investigators with the committee probing corruption in the U.N. oil-for-food program have resigned in protest,
saying they believe a report that cleared Kofi Annan of meddling in the $64 billion operation was too soft on the secretary-general, a panel member
confirmed Wednesday.
The investigators felt the Independent Inquiry Committee, led by former U.S. Federal Reserve chairman Paul Volcker, played down findings critical of
Annan when it released an interim report in late March related to his son, said Mark Pieth, one of three leaders of the committee.

Is the U.N. falling apart, having a string of bad luck, or just getting more than usual media attention? These investigators reportedly resigned
because they felt they could not effectively do the job they signed up for. Were they being censored? Pressured? Neither investigator will comment
to the press at this time.
