Alright so I had a weird thought experiment.

All these drones and predictions and scamdemics and scamdals of the world--do they leave you feeling stressed and overwhelmed in this modern society?

Humanity is as divided as ever. People still live and die and cheat and steal with each other all day just because they like it so much. But a lot of people find success and happiness and families in life too.

I used to hear the phrase "Heaven and Hell on Earth is what you make it." Now and here is the clutch time.

If we all have different ideas of heaven and hell, no wonder the world is jumbled.

*****

Thought exercise part:

Now let's imagine that Aliens and Planet X are real and that the drones and stuff are just a prelude to a proposition for earth.

What if Aliens showed up and said, ok we see your world and its struggles and we can't have you guys hovering over the nuclear option every few years.

They have a possible solution, and Niburu or whatever is passing back out away from earth so decide now what you want.

If you're happy on this earth you can stay if you want. Life will go on the way it has been. You still have to take your chances on egg prices going up and such.

But for those that maybe want a little adventure they offer to take anyone willing to go off-world and start a new colony from the ground up. They want to seed a totally new culture and situation. But the stipulation is no electronics or computers (For the sake of the exercise let's say your pacemaker and stuff still work but you're not bringing any gadgets like a calculator.)

You can stay on earth as it is right now, or go bare bones and start a new colony with a bunch of randos. That means you'll have to hunt, fish, forage, build shelters, make your own tools etc. You can retain all your knowledge you just have to go and rebuild it all from scratch on another world. You can't take anything with you but your memories and the shirt on your back.

All I'm saying is...who's coming with me?

Fair. I did say the clothes on your back. I'd be taking some Red Wings work boots myself.

No, thanks.

You can't trust Aliens.

I say, nuke them from orbit.

It's the only way to be sure.

Which ever Trump chooses I choose the other.

But really, the option in this thought experiment is stay here or go to another planet and start over, bare bones with a bunch of randos. No thanks. Too many conditions left out of the premise for any kind of rational decision making. What kind of provisions could we bring along, what kind of tools. What kind of clothing, warm weather or cold. Dry or wet. Is this going to be an earth type planet? Could we choose where to be dropped off on this planet, near oceans or rivers or mountains

Seems like this band of randos would need to start feeding themselves immediately. Would they start with easy to catch bugs and plants? Would the plants be familiar earth plants or plants from an alien world. How soon if the immediate food procurement does not go well would it take some of those randos decide that eating other randos would help them live for a bit longer.

And what would the aliens have to offer those who chose to go. We can assume that those who are happy here will not choose to go while those who do choose to go are dissatisfied with their options here. That winnowing process would establish a world of randos who dislike this world and very likely people who are not just like themselves so probably the world of randos would gravitate to quickly to a ''strong man'' social system that would end up starting the whole mess over again.

No, not for me thanks.

That is all you chose to comment on from that whole paragraphs long reply to you? The opening sentence that clearly was a joke?

In answer to your questions and variables, let's say--

Okay Aliens have found what they think is a suitable earth-like exoplanet they'd like to seed. You have the range of conditions you'd find on earth, and the Aliens posit that you could find ways to work together and draw on each other's experience and wisdom to build something nice and they'll come check on it every few hundred years or thousands etc.

Let's say they aren't going to just drop 10 million all in one little area. There's enough room to spread out or congregate depending on what the colony chooses.

So basically you'll have a decent enough chance at just not outright dying. No it's not a trick question where the whole planet is poisonous and trying to kill you.

But you have to make it all. So no tools and provisions other than a basic welcome basket.

Simple, do you want things to stay the same as they are with the people around you? Or are you taking a chance at working together and building a village from the ground up? No computers, no electronics. You'll be sleeping in a basic lean-to shelter your first night on New Earth.

The success of the colony is dependent on the people who want to build it, not the tools they arrived with.

Does this help?

It's a cook book!

So you want to go all 'When Worlds Collide' without the collision.

Well, when the martians tried that, they all died of a cold.

It will end in desaster for both planets. Those left on Earth will die from a disease cought from a dirty phone because the telephone sanitizers left for the new world.

Been there, seen that, wave at them as they go by and take their technology. Just sterilize everything brought back.

Do not under any circumstances show any emotions, especially don't smile at them. That started the first war with the Klingons. Showing teeth is aggression to them.

lol as you are ushered into the rendering plant and or asteroid mining gulag.

Technological advancement doesn’t equal moral benevolence. If/when we do mean another contender who is to say they won’t slave drivers?

If my grandsons were over 18, I would go.

Too old to repopulate or anything like that, but I've been studying plant medicine, so maybe could help with that. And while all the plants would be different, I would probably figure out some basics.

And if not, well, people will know not to eat whatever killed me. Lol

Perhaps we should just try to figure out a way together with them to develop some method to communicate reliably across the stars so we can check in on whoever decided to go and managed to not get cooked and eaten by the aliens.

I just witnessed this drone phenomenon with my own eyes an hour ago so I am certainly suspicious of ET right now.
