FOOD FOR THOUGHT...

The C.E.O. of UnitedHealthcare, 50-year-old Brian Thompson, was murdered on the street in midtown Manhattan, on Wednesday morning, twenty minutes before sunrise.

He was in town for an investors’ convention, and had worked for UnitedHealthcare for more than two decades—a company that is part of UnitedHealth Group, a health-insurance conglomerate valued at five hundred and sixty billion dollars.

UnitedHealthcare had two hundred and eighty-one billion dollars in revenue in 2023, and Thompson, who became C.E.O. in 2021, had raised annual profits from twelve billion dollars to sixteen billion dollars during his tenure.

The very next day, in a hastily issued statement, Anthem Blue Cross suddenly changed its mind about limiting the number of hours a person in surgery can have their anesthetic/anesthesia paid for by their insurance policy...

One of the country's largest health insurers has reversed its decision to no longer pay for anesthesia care in certain states if the surgery or procedure goes beyond a particular time limit. The original move by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, which would have started next year, alarmed doctors and policymakers.

"There has been significant widespread misinformation about an update to our anesthesia policy. As a result, we have decided to not proceed with this policy change," the company said in a statement to NPR on Thursday afternoon.

An Action-Reaction CORRELATION? Or a COINCIDENCE?

I'm a believer in sending "notices" to those who have harmed, do harm, or planning to harm Americans.

IF reversal/cancellation of the Anthem Blue Cross "Anesthesia benefit reduction" was a result of United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson being intentionally targeted and killed the prior day, and many lives are going to be saved as a result, was his death worth it?

I would be rude to say yes but it would be fanciful to say no.

Lots of health insurance cuts happening in 2025. All instigated under The Biden Health system. ☠️

No. His death was not justified even if it made an insurance company think twice and not cut benefits.

I support the death penalty for criminals. To me, Mr. Thompson was not a criminal. He was not the person in charge of this insurance company. He didn't own the insurance company. He is just a COG in the MACHINE. Like we all are. Just cogs.

Now if whoever owns the insurance company (I'm sure it isn't just one person, but let's say it was) and makes decisions to enrich their own pockets and that costs people their lives? Well that person is committing homicides. In my opinion. So if that person was executed after being tried and convicted rightfully of homicide by medical neglect (motive=greed and obviously premeditated) then I support that wholeheartedly. And that scenario WOULD lead to changes. Big changes in how these elites do business.

While I understand why you feel it might be rude to say YES to the OP question... I'd like to deconstruct that reaction.

"Why is it rude to see the benefit of Brian Thompson murder?"

Assuming his murder was carried out by a disgruntled customer of United Healthcare (we don't know that for sure); then Brian Thompson's murder was a direct result of his own actions and inactions.

We all accept that their is widespread corruption in the Healthcare industry. And by most metrics United Healthcare has undeserved it's customers compared industry standards (for example they deny claims at twice the rate as the other big insurers). And on top of all that there is an ever widening wealth gap between the top and bottom of society, and what is worse is that government seems to be enabling the trend not fighting it.

Maybe the only way to a more healthy society is more people taking action as Brian Thompson's murderer has. It's unfortunate, it's tragic, its dangerous but it may be the only way for the Brian Thompsons of the world to change their ways.

Many positive outcomes have come from violence brought to the right people. For example; the expansion of workers rights (which we take for granted now) didn't come about peacefully.

Even the new President of the United States contemplated on how one of his ardent detractors would feel about war if she had the weapons of war pointing at her ... he was not wrong for asking that question, no matter how many people thought it was rude.

I was just treading lightly on saying there is a time for violence and I approve and admire a person knowing there truly is a war on against us. Declaring war with the required savagery against this enemy I think is appropriate.

It's never the Klaus Schwabs or Bill Gates getting shot at through the years. That's a good indication who is arranging the shooting.

Saving lives by getting attacked, makes his unintended sacrifice, honorable.

You're right. Biden implemented a 4 year Build Back Better program that paid insurance companies not to raise premiums much. That 4 years of government subsidies expires in 2025. Then...BOOM! Unless Trump/Congress extends it, like they're supposed to extend the Trump Tax Cuts that began in 2018.

OK...so I'll put you down for "Coincidence". Blue Cross changed its mind about reducing Anesthesia coverage, simply because their conscience prevailed. The execution of United Healthcare's CEO had nothing to do with it.

Thanks for your input.

REUTERS says the in-public murder of the CEO of United Health Care, has brought frustrations about health insurance to the surface in America.

www.reuters.com...

President Obama said the ACA (Obamacare) would fix most problems, but he didn't take into account how very expensive medical care in America is. The Federal Government isn't will to invest the Trillions of dollars necessary into our healthcare system to make it the World Leader for ALL Americans.
